On the morning of October 21, at the City Convention Center, the Peace Committee of Hai Phong city solemnly held the Congress for the 2017-2022 term. Attending, on the Central side, was comrade Dong Huy Cuong, General Secretary of the Vietnam Peace Committee. Member organizations of the UBHB and many units and organizations in the city have proactively developed plans and implemented people-to-people diplomacy activities for the purpose of peace, friendship and people-to-people cooperation.

For the 2017-2022 term, the City Executive Committee sets the goal of continuing to strongly innovate the content, operating methods, and organizational development associated with implementing the foreign policy of the Party and State in the spirit of developing both breadth and depth to enhance mutual understanding; develop friendly relations and cooperation between the people of Vietnam in general, the people of Hai Phong in particular, and peace-loving people around the world, for the goal of global peace. The City Committee also proposed 4 groups of tasks and solutions for implementation.
Delegates voted to approve the Charter of the City Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 term
The Congress also elected the City Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 term including 31 comrades, including 1 Chairman, 3 Vice Presidents, Secretary and 26 other members who are leaders of relevant departments, branches, units, and representatives of a number of organizations and businesses. Comrade Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the city's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, was elected Chairwoman of the city's Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 term. The Congress also voted to approve the Charter of the City Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 term, including 8 chapters and 29 articles.
Speaking at the Congress, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Thanh affirmed that the City People's Committee's organization of the Congress for the 2017-2022 term is an important event, marking the growth and stability of one of the earliest socio-political organizations in Hai Phong city.

To further improve the operational efficiency of the City Executive Committee in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee suggested focusing on implementing a number of key tasks: Continue to thoroughly grasp and implement Directive No. 04 of the 11th Party Central Committee Secretariat on continuing to innovate and improve the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation; Promote propaganda work on Ho Chi Minh's values and ideology on peace, national independence and on the activities of the city's Executive Committee; continue to strengthen and strongly develop the organization, especially at the grassroots, promote its core role in peace work, innovate operating methods associated with the grassroots, and expand the network. The City Committee of Management needs to proactively propose policies and measuresimprove the effectiveness of peace work, replicate models and movements; continue to coordinate more closely with sectors and unions; Strengthen international cooperation, proactively advise and participate in world peace forums and movements; Carry out well the work of attracting resources from the international community for domestic activities.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Thanh believes that peace work will develop more strongly, and that the City People's Committee will deserve to be a core organization in peace work, actively contributing to preserving a stable and peaceful environment for cooperation and development.
