(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of May 14, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organized an online conference on promoting agricultural product consumption in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic. Attending and chairing the Conference at Hanoi Bridge were Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Rural Development: Le Quoc Doanh and Tran Thanh Nam; leaders of a number of ministries and central branches.
Attending the conference at Hai Phong bridge, there were Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho; leaders of relevant departments, branches, units and localities; along with representatives of a number of industry associations, cooperatives, and businesses in the city.
According to the assessment report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, despite many difficulties in 2020, with the efforts and determination of the Government, ministries, branches, localities and the cooperation of the business community, Vietnam's agricultural exports still reached 41.2 billion USD, an increase of 2.6% compared to 2019, creating momentum for the market in 2021. Total export value The first 4 months of 2021 of the whole country reached 17.15 billion USD, an increase of 24.4% over the same period in 2020. If calculated by each market, the total export value of agriculture, forestry and fishery products in the first 4 months of Vietnam to markets in the Asian region is estimated to increase by 18.2%, reaching 8.05 billion USD; Americas increased by 56.7%, reaching 4.73 billion USD; Africa increased by 11.8%, reaching 249 million USD...

Consumption of agricultural products across the country is normal
In his concluding speech at the Conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam emphasized that with the results achieved in the past 4 months, it can be confirmed that the country's agricultural production and agricultural product consumption situation is normal. This is a positive sign, in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic affecting all aspects of Vietnam's agricultural product consumption.
To promote the consumption of agricultural products in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Deputy Minister suggested that in the coming time, localities need to continue to drastically implement the directives of the Secretariat, the Prime Minister, and the directions of ministries and central branches in disease prevention; seriously implement dual goals; Timely information about the production and circulation of agricultural products in the locality to proactively adjust production plans according to market needs; Closely coordinate with ministries and branches to ensure smooth circulation of agricultural materials and agricultural products during the period of quarantine and epidemic response.
To continue expanding export markets, the Deputy Minister requested units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade to research and propose early solutions to allow the export of Vietnamese fruit products to the Chinese market.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Finance to establish an interdisciplinary working group to resolve problems arising during the export of agricultural products, Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Lam proposed.
During the implementation process, localities that encounter any embarrassing or difficult issues must immediately report them to the Ministry for consideration and resolution. Provinces with large raw material areas and agricultural products approaching harvest season must have detailed plans to support farmers in consuming agricultural products.

In Hai Phong, the output of agricultural products circulated and consumed in the city, in addition to the local supply from the districts, the average amount of agricultural products arriving at wholesale markets is about 80 - 100 tons/day, mainly from Hai Duong, Lao Cai, Lang Son, Son La, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, the southern provinces...
