In 2020, the world economy experienced many fluctuations, the COVID-19 epidemic broke out globally, seriously affecting all socio-economic aspects of countries around the world, especially the service and tourism industries, increased unemployment rates led to economic recession in many countries. The country's economy faces many difficulties and challenges after being heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the leadership of the Party and State and the consensus and solidarity of the entire people, Vietnam has carried out epidemic prevention and control very effectively, in which Hai Phong city is recognized as one of the localities performing the best epidemic prevention and control work in the country; economic indicatorsThe city's socio-economic development in 2020 still achieved outstanding results, continuing to be a bright spot in the country's socio-economic development.
Specifically, the city's gross product (GRDP) is estimated at 190,768.8 billion VND, an increase of 11.22% over the same period last year, ranking 2nd in the country. Of which, the industry-construction sector increased by 16.59%; agriculture-forestry-fishery increased by 2.35%; The service sector increased by 5.64%. Total state budget revenue in the city is estimated at 84,199.2 billion VND, of which domestic revenue reached 30,000 billion VND, equal to 111.05% over the same period; Balanced revenue from import and export activities reached 50,000 billion VND, equal to 83.89% over the same period last year.
In addition, from the beginning of the year to December 15, 2020, the whole city had 75 new foreign investment (FDI) projects from 15 countries and territories, 26 projects adjusted to increase capital, so the total FDI investment capital reached more than 1.4 billion USD.
In construction investment, due to the priority of focusing investment resources, contributing to changing the appearance of the city, the city's estimated realized investment capital in 2020 reached 171,708.7 billion VND, an increase of 14% over the same period in 2019.
In 2020, the city created jobs for 55,400 workers, an increase of 0.91% compared to 2019; The rate of the workforce participating in social insurance reached 40.15%. The city also received and handled 3,266 policy beneficiaries and provided housing support for people with meritorious services to the revolution in 2,436 cases...
