(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the afternoon of October 31, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung chaired a working session with the World Bank Delegation on the implementation of the Urban Transport Development Project. Also attending the work were representatives of leaders of relevant departments, functional branches and localities.
Mr. Shige Sakaki, Head of the World Bank Transport Department in Vietnam, spoke at the meeting.According to the report of the Project Management Board, up to now the project handover rate has reached about 99.7%; The biggest problem is the case of Kim Long Trading Co., Ltd. in Hai An district with an area of over 2,200m2, the district is currently making a plan for compensation and architectural support... Regarding the progress of the main construction and installation packages, the entire length of the project's route is about 20km from the starting point of the route intersecting with National Highway 10 in Bac Son commune, An Duong district to the end point of the route intersecting with Lien Ward road in Nam Hai ward, Hai An district. Up to this point, the project has been completed about 84%, of which: package CW1A Lot 1 reached 77%; CW1A Lot 2 reached 89%; CW2A Lot 1, Lot 2 are 100% completed; CW3A reached 64%; CW 4A reached 44%; CW5A is 100% complete.
Regarding the implementation of resettlement work, currently 14 resettlement areas in An Duong, Kien An, Le Chan and Hai An districts have basically been completed and are eligible to grant resettlement land to households; Regarding the problems of 9 households in the resettlement area of Nam Hai ward, Hai An district, the Project Management Board is coordinating with the district to resolve.
Exchanging at the working session, the Working Group noted and evaluated that the construction and installation of the project in the past 6 months had made good progress. Regarding site clearance work, the Working Group requested the city to direct An Duong district and Hai An district to focus on striving to complete site clearance work before November 30, 2019 so that the contractor has enough time to complete the project within the validity period of the Agreement. The delegation also recommended that the city pay attention to researching traffic connection solutions and improving the capacity to develop a public transport system to attract people to participate.
Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung, on behalf of the city leaders, thanked the World Bank for creating conditions and supporting Hai Phong to implement the Urban Transport Development Project. The Chairman said that in recent times, the city has been very drastic in replacing contractors with weak capacity to ensure the project's construction progress. The Chairman emphasized that the city will focus on directing and completely resolving the site clearance work in November 2019, and at the same time assigned the Project Management Board along with contractors and supervision consultants to continue accelerating the construction progress to strive to complete the route in 2019.
