(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the afternoon of October 13, the City People's Committee officially held the Launching Ceremony of the Rao Bridge Construction Investment Project with a total investment of nearly 2,300 billion VND. This is an important and practical event to welcome the 16th Congress of Hai Phong City Party Committee and the 13th National Congress of the Party. The Rao 1 bridge construction investment project is expected to meet the city's development needs in the coming years, being a highlight of architecture and landscape at the southern gateway, contributing to changing the city's urban appearance towards civilization and modernity.
The project has the scale of building a bridge consisting of 3 arches with modern artistic architecture, a symbol of the waves, reaching out to the sea; The main bridge part is 456.5m long, 30.5m wide, with 4 motor vehicle lanes, 2 mixed traffic lanes, a median strip, a safety strip and sidewalks on both sides of the bridge; Two branch roads up and down the bridge on Lach Tray road, connecting with existing roads, forming an intersection, shaped like a modern roundabout...
Along with the investment in new construction of Cau Rao, the project will renovate Lach Tray route from Cau Rao to Thanh Doi intersection, in the direction of expanding the sidewalks on both sides from 4 to 5m.

Speaking at the Launch Ceremony, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung emphasized that in recent years, with the attention of the Government, along with the efforts of the Party Committee, government, army and people of the city, Hai Phong has achieved many outstanding achievements in socio-economic development. In the 2015-2020 term, with central capital sources, city budget sources and socialization sources, Hai Phong city has built 46 bridges of all types with a total investment of over 30 trillion VND. With resources focused on investing in traffic development, Hai Phong has increasingly asserted itself as an important traffic hub, the gateway from other localities into the city and the main gateway to the sea.

Chairman Nguyen Van Tung said that Rao Bridge currently plays a very important role, as the gateway into and out of Hai Phong city. It was built in 1980. After more than 40 years, Rao Bridge can no longer meet traffic needs, is often congested and unsafe. Faced with such a situation, the city decided to prioritize public investment capital to build a new bridge to replace the old, degraded bridge, contributing to improving the circulation capacity of one of the city's important gateways.
The Chairman affirmed that, once completed and put into operation, Cau Rao will bring the city a civilized and modern gateway. Along with other bridge projects of the city such as: Hoang Van Thu bridge, Vo Nguyen Giap bridge, Binh bridge, Tan Vu - Lach Huyen sea crossing bridge..., Rao Bridge will contribute to changing the urban appearance of the city in a civilized and modern direction, gradually concretizing the Action Program of the Standing Committee of the Hai Phong City Party Committee to implement the goals of Resolution 45/NQ-TW of the Politburo "Building and developing Hai Phong city by the year 2030, vision to 2045”.
Also at the Project Launch Ceremony, on behalf of the city leaders, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung acknowledged and praised the Hai Phong Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board for its many efforts in implementing the Project's procedures, and also appreciated the active participation of the districts: Ngo Quyen, Le Chan, Hai An and Duong Kinh, along with organizations in the Project area that have carried out temporary work. hand over the site for project implementation.
In order for the project to be implemented on schedule, ensuring quality, technique, aesthetics and labor safety, the Chairman requested the Project Management Board to quickly implement the next procedures and carry out parts of the work according to the set schedule; Focus on speeding up site clearance, ensuring compliance with regulations, striving to hand over the construction site to the Project as soon as possible.
The Chairman also expressed his wish that affected organizations and households support the implementation of the Project and soon hand over the site to carry out construction work.
