The Minister attended the Asia-Pacific Conference of German economists in Jakarta, Indonesia

This is a conference held every two years, in countries in the Asia-Pacific region of the German economic community. This year's conference attracted the participation of about 700 German businesses in the Asia-Pacific region.

Minister talks with German business representatives at the Conference

At the Conference, Minister Tran Tuan Anh discussed with the German Federal Ministers of Economy and Energy, Australian Minister of Finance and Public Services Mathias Cormann and Indonesian Minister of Foreign Investment Cooperation Thomas Lembong at the Dialogue Session between Ministers on the topic of Global Trade Policy Development: Protection and market opening and economic trends. Minister Tran Tuan Anh shared with the Conference about Vietnam's active participation. deeply integrating into the world economy. Currently, Vietnam has signed and participated in 16 bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements, including the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), CPTPP Agreement.

Export is an important driving force promoting Vietnam's economic development. Therefore, Vietnam supports a rules-based, free, fair, open, transparent and inclusive multilateral trading system. Vietnam always considers the multilateral trade system based on rules, freedom and fairness as the foundation of the global trade system. However, in recent times, the global multilateral trade system, centered on the WTO, has revealed a number of limitations, so adjustments are needed to become more fair and effective.

On the sidelines of the Conference, the Minister had a bilateral working meeting with Mr. Peter Altmaier, German Federal Minister of Economics and Energy. At the meeting, on the German side, there were nearly 20 representatives of large German corporations such as Siemens, Bosch, Bayer, Schaeffler... and on the Vietnamese side, there were representatives of Vietnam Electricity Group and VinGroup (VinFast). During the meeting, the two Ministers discussed with each other in a frank and open spirit about the cooperation contents being prioritized by the two countries such as the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement, the development of supporting industries in the automobile manufacturing and assembly industry, the establishment of the German - Vietnamese Chamber of Industry and Commerce, energy, the quick response mechanism between the two Ministries and Metro Line 2 in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, the Minister also listened to a number of cooperation proposals as well as answered questions from German businesses. In order to specifically consider the proposals and questions of your side, the Minister noted and will direct the relevant units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to actively implement immediately after receiving the official document from the German Enterprise side.
