6According to the Foreign Investment Department, Ministry of Planning and Investment, in the first 2 months of 2016 alone, the total newly registered capital and increaseSingapore's m2 in the first 2 months of 2016 reached nearly 469 million USD, leading countries investing in Vietnam.
Accordingly, Singapore has 30 new projects with a total registered capital of about 435 million USD. In addition, 6 Singapore projects increased capital with a total additional capital of 33.8 million USD. Accumulated as of February 20, 2016, Singaporean investors have 1,569 valid investment projects in Vietnam, total registered investment capital of more than 36 billion USD and ranked 3rd/112 countries and territories with investment projects in Vietnam.
The average capital scale of a Singapore project is about 23 million USD, higher than the average average capital of a foreign investment project in Vietnam which is 13.96 million USD/project.
Ho Chi Minh City is the locality that attracts the most projects from Singapore with 786 projects and 9.6 billion USD of registered capital (accounting for 50% of the total number of projects and 26.71% of Singapore's total registered capital in Vietnam). Hanoi ranked second with 249 projects and 4.6 billion USD of registered capital (accounting for 16% of the total number of projects and 12.8% of Singapore's total registered capital in Vietnam). Quang Nam ranked third with 6 projects and about 4 billion USD of registered investment capital, accounting for 11.3% of Singapore's total registered capital in Vietnam. In addition, Bac Ninh, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Thai Nguyen are also provinces and cities that attract many projects from Singapore.
In terms of investment fields, Singapore's projects mainly focus on the processing and manufacturing industry with 481 projects and 15.6 billion USD of investment capital (accounting for 30.65% of the total number of projects and 43.47% of Singapore's total investment capital in Vietnam). Ranked second is the real estate business with 80 projects and 10.8 billion USD of investment capital (accounting for 5% of the total number of projects and 29.95% of Singapore's total investment capital in Vietnam).
The arts, entertainment, construction, and warehousing industries also attract a lot of Singaporean investment capital in Vietnam. These industries all have total investment capital of USD 1.8 billion, USD 1.7 billion and USD 1.4 billion, respectively.
In general, foreign investment capital of Singaporean investors in Vietnam has continuously increased in recent years. Singapore's investment projects operate with high efficiency, contributing significantly to job creation, exports and Vietnam's economic growth.
Statistics show that, when investing in Vietnam, Singaporean investors mostly choose 100% foreign capital with 1,163 projects and 23.4 billion USD (accounting for 74% of the total number of projects and 65% of Singapore's total registered capital in Vietnam). The rest are in the form of joint ventures and business cooperation contracts./.
