foreign May 10, 2014In total, for both new grants and capital increases in the first 10 months of 2014, foreign investors registered to invest in Vietnam 13.7 billion USD, equal to 71.2% over the same period in 2013.
Implemented capital:
In the first 10 months of 2014, it is estimated that foreign direct investment projects disbursed 10.15 billion USD, an increase of 5.9 % over the same period in 2013.
Export and import situation:
Exports of the foreign invested sector (including crude oil) in the first 10 months of 2014 reached 82.48 billion USD, up 13.6% over the same period in 2013 and accounting for 67% of export turnover. Exports excluding crude oil in 10 months reached 76.2 billion USD, up 14.3% over the same period in 2013.
Imports of the foreign invested sector as of October 2014 reached 68.66 billion USD, up 10.7% over the same period in 2013 and accounting for 57% of import turnover. Overall, in 10 months, the foreign investment sector had a trade surplus of 13.8 billion USD.
According to reports received, as of October 20, 2014, the whole country had 1,306 new projects granted investment certificates with a total registered capital of 9.95 billion USD, equal to 76.1% compared to the same period in 2013.
By October 20, 2014, there were 469 projects registered to increase investment capital with a total registered capital increase of 3.74 billion USD, equal to 60.9% over the same period in 2013.
In total, for both new grants and capital increases in the first 10 months of 2014, foreign investors registered to invest in Vietnam 13.7 billion USD, equal to 71.2% over the same period in 2013.
By investment field:
The processing and manufacturing industry is an area that attracts a lot of attention from foreign investors with 636 newly registered investment projects, the total newly and increased capital is 9.7 billion USD, accounting for 70.8% of the total registered investment capital in the first 10 months of 2014. The real estate business sector ranks second with 29 newly registered investment projects, the total newly and increased investment capital is 1.22 billion USD, accounting for 8.9%. The 3rd ranked sector is the Construction sector with a total newly registered and increased capital of 1.03 billion USD, accounting for 7.5% of the total registered capital.
According to investment partners:
From the beginning of 2014 until now, there have been 56 countries and territories with investment projects in Vietnam. South Korea leads with a total newly registered and increased investment capital of 3.6 billion USD, accounting for 26.3% of total investment capital in Vietnam; Singapore ranked second with a total newly registered and increased investment capital of 2.64 billion USD, accounting for 19.3% of total investment capital; Hong Kong ranked third with a total newly registered and increased investment capital of 1.67 billion USD, accounting for 12.2% of total investment capital; Next is Japan, ranked 4th with a total newly registered and increased capital of about 1.66 billion USD, accounting for 12.1% of total investment capital in Vietnam.
By locality
In the first 10 months of 2014, foreign investors invested in 50 provinces and cities nationwide. The leader in foreign investment is Ho Chi Minh City with 2.85 billion USD of newly registered capital and additional capital, accounting for 20.8% of total investment capital. Bac Ninh ranked second with a total newly registered and increased capital of 1.38 billion USD, accounting for 10.1%. Dong Nai ranked third with 1.37 billion USD of newly registered and increased capital. Next are Binh Duong, Hai Phong, Hanoi with registered capital of 1.36 billion USD respectively; 993 million USD and 954 million USD.
Some major projects licensed in the first 10 months of 2014:
– Samsung CE Complex Electronics Co., Ltd. project invested by Samsung Asia Pte.Ltd - Singapore investor in Ho Chi Minh City with a total registered investment capital of 1.4 billion USD;
– SamSung Display Bac Ninh Co., Ltd. project invested by Korean investors in Bac Ninh with a total registered investment capital of 1 billion USD;
– Texhong Ngan Ha Science and Technology Co., Ltd. project invested by Hong Kong investors in Quang Ninh with a total registered investment capital of 300 million USD;
– Investment project on construction and business of infrastructure of Hai Phong international gateway port industrial park, Belgian investor in Hai Phong with total investment capital of 259.4 million USD;
