On the afternoon of May 11, the leadership delegation of Kitakyushu city, Japan, led by Mr. Kenji Kitahashi, Mayor of Kitakyushu city, paid a courtesy visit to the city leaders on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of establishing twinned relations between the two cities of Hai Phong - Kitakyushu. Accompanying him was Mr. Koichi Murakami, Chairman of Kitakyushu City Council. Receiving and working with the delegation on the city side were comrades: Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee; Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; Bui Duc Quang, Vice Chairman of the City People's Council and leaders of relevant departments and branches.
At the reception, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung welcomed the Working Group of Kitakyushu city to visit and work in Hai Phong city on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of Hai Phong's Liberation Day and the 5th anniversary of the establishment of twinned relations between the two cities of Hai Phong - Kitakyushu. The Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that, after 5 years of establishing relationships, based on strengths and environmental achievements, Kitakyushu city has been actively supporting the implementation of pilot projects on green growth in Hai Phong under the sponsorship of the JICA International Cooperation Agency and the Japanese Ministry of Environment (such as the EV electric bus project on Cat Ba island, the wastewater treatment project at Ngoc Hai fish market in Do Son district, the construction project of the Urban Areaecological industry, waste classification project for compost production, research on organic matter treatment in water using UBCF biological contact filtration technology...). These projects have been contributing to raising city residents' awareness of the environment and contributing to promoting the implementation of Hai Phong city's green growth plan, rapidly moving towards the goal of becoming a green, civilized and modern port city.
Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said that Hai Phong city is currently a bright spot in socio-economic development of the country, and is a favorable location for foreign investors to invest in the present time. The city is very interested in friendly cooperation with foreign partners in general and Japanese localities in particular. At the same time, he expressed his hope that investors from Kitakyushu city will continue to have direct investment activities in the city in the near future.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee believes that the cooperative relationship between the people and the government of the two cities of Hai Phong - Kitakyushu will continue to be consolidated and strengthened and believes in a future of sustainable development for both cities in close cooperation and support for each other in foreign affairs activities on a regional and international scale. The Chairman of the City People's Committee wished the Hai Phong - Kitakyushu twinned cooperative relationship to become increasingly stronger.
