Over the past time, with outstanding characteristics, geographical location advantages and the determination of the city's leaders, the facilitation of the Vietnamese Government and the companionship of businesses and people, Hai Phong has had a double-digit growth rate for 9 consecutive years and is a reliable and attractive address for domestic and foreign investors. In 2023, the city's GRDP will reach 10.34%, in the first four months of 2024, the socio-economic development situation has many bright spots, in which the foreign investment sector is always determined to make an important contribution to the city's socio-economic development process.
In recent years, Hai Phong has always been among the top localities in the country in terms of attracting foreign investment capital flows and realized capital reaching a high rate of nearly 80% of registered capital. The total foreign investment attraction across the city in 2023 will reach 3.62 billion USD, 1.74 times higher than the same period in 2022, exceeding 81.16% of the 2023 attraction plan, making it the second locality nationwide in attracting investment. Accordingly, to date, in the city there are 954 valid foreign investment projects with a total registered investment capital of 30.1 billion USD from investors from 39 countries and territories.
Among them, China is one of Hai Phong's strategic partners with a large number of projects and investment capital. Currently, in Hai Phong there are 394 investment projects of Chinese investors (including mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan) with a total registered investment capital of 6.1 billion USD, ranking first in number of projects and second in investment capital. Chinese investment projects are mainly in the fields of: manufacturing and processing industry, investment and business in industrial park infrastructure and real estate, trade and service business, purchasing and selling goods.
Currently, in Hai Phong there are 394 investment projects of Chinese investors (including mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan) with a total registered investment capital of 6.1 billion USD, ranking first in number of projects and second in investment capital. Chinese investment projects are mainly in the fields of: manufacturing and processing industry, investment and business in industrial park infrastructure and real estate, trade in services, and purchase and sale of goods. Chinese businesses in the city have made certain contributions to the city's socio-economy, contributing to creating jobs and providing skills training for a large number of workers in the city.
The relationship between the two governments of Vietnam and China continues to have positive developments and milestone achievements in recent times. Implementing the annual work plan, the Department of Finance organized the "Conference on investment and business connection between Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises in Hai Phong in 2024". This is one of the activities aimed at concretizing and implementing the common perception between Vietnam and China in the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, strengthening friendly cooperation, and expanding economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.
Attending the conference were representatives of leaders of the Hai Phong Department of Finance and about 100 delegates representing more than 70 Chinese and Vietnamese businesses and press agencies in the city.
The Conference on Investment Promotion and Investment - Business Connection between Vietnamese - Chinese enterprises in Hai Phong in 2024 focuses on introducing to investors the investment and business environment and socio-economic overview, investment attraction orientation of the city; At the same time, listen and answer questions from potential Chinese businesses wishing to research investment in Hai Phong, creating an environment for sincere and open cooperation and information exchange between Vietnamese businesses and Chinese investors.
