On October 29, comrade Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Phong city, received and worked with the delegation of the Guangdong provincial government (China) led by comrade Truong Quoc Tri, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Governor of the People's Government of Guangdong province. Also attending were comrade Nguyen Viet Dung, Consul General of Vietnam in Guangzhou, China; Le Trung Kien, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board.
At the meeting, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau briefly introduced the potential, strengths and development orientation of Hai Phong city - the economic, industrial and major seaport center of Vietnam. Hai Phong currently has the third largest economic scale in the country, with GRDP increasing by 11.01% in 2024; is a locality that has maintained double-digit growth for 10 consecutive years, with more than 1,700 FDI projects, total investment capital of over 50 billion USD. Of these, China alone (including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau) has 769 projects with a total capital of more than 12.7 billion USD - accounting for more than a quarter of the total investment capital of the entire city.
Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau affirmed that Hai Phong values and appreciates projects of Guangdong enterprises, especially An Duong Industrial Park - a typical and effective cooperation model between the two localities. He proposed strengthening cooperation in four areas: Maintaining the exchange of leadership delegations and businesses from both sides to expand practical and effective cooperation; Encourage Guangdong businesses to invest in Hai Phong in the fields of high technology, supporting industries, and e-commerce; Promote cooperation in training and technology transfer, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and smart cities; Research to reopen the Hai Phong - Shenzhen flight route to promote bilateral tourism and investment.
Deputy Governor of the People's Government of Guangdong province Truong Quoc Tri thanked the city's leaders for the respectful welcome, emphasizing that Guangdong - the locality with China's leading GDP for many years - always attaches importance to cooperation with Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular, especially in the context of the two sides having a long-term friendly exchange foundation. He highly appreciated the great potential for cooperation between the two localities, especially in the fields of industry, logistics, education and innovation.
The meeting contributed to further tightening the friendly cooperation and mutual development between Hai Phong and Guangdong, opening up many new cooperation opportunities in the coming period./.
