(Haiphong.gov.vn) - Continuing the working program in Korea, on the morning of April 25, in Seoul, the People's Committee of Hai Phong city coordinated with LG Group to organize an investment promotion conference with LG businesses.
At the conference were comrades: Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation; Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Korea Vu Ho; Le Trung Kien, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board with Mr. Baek Chan, General Director of LG Electronics Vietnam Hai Phong Co., Ltd. and 60 supporting businesses of LG Group.

Continue to expand investment strategy in Hai Phong
In his opening speech at the Conference, City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau highly appreciated LG Group's choice to invest in Hai Phong and build LG Group's production ecosystem over the past 10 years. LG Group and its supporting units make important contributions to the development of Hai Phong in particular and Vietnam in general. The success of LG Group in Hai Phong is clear evidence that the city's investment environment is always attractive to foreign investors, including investors from Korea.
Congratulations to Hai Phong city for coordinating with LG Group to organize an investment promotion conference in Korea, Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Korea Vu Ho affirmed that Hai Phong is one of the localities with the largest total number of projects and total investment capital from Korea in the country. This shows that Hai Phong's investment policies and environment are truly open and attractive to Korean investors. The Vietnamese Embassy in Korea always supports, creates conditions and is a bridge to help leading Korean businesses and corporations explore opportunities and wish to continue investing in Hai Phong, contributing to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Baek Chan, General Director of LG Electronics Vietnam Company emphasized that Hai Phong city is one of the fastest growing localities with the attraction of foreign business investment. In Hai Phong, LG Electronics is both developing existing areas and preparing a strategy to expand product lines such as dishwashers and ovens.
In the framework of the Investment Promotion Conference, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau witnessed the ceremony of handing over the Letter of Intent of Cooperation from LG Group to Hai Phong city and Hai Phong University. At the same time, visit the showroom to introduce LG's ecosystem and the leading technology products that LG plans to launch this year. Currently, LG has attracted investment in Hai Phong of 8.24 billion USD, of which, 7 projects with investment capital of 7.24 billion USD (LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Innotek, LG CNS, LG Chemical (2 projects), LG International) and 50 satellite businesses with a total investment capital of nearly 1 billion USD. LG's export proportion always accounts for about 43% of the city's export turnover. LG's success turns Hai Phong into a convergence center for large FDI projects, promoting developmentsocio-economic situation of Hai Phong in particular and of Vietnam in general.

Promote cooperation in education, training and health
On the afternoon of April 25, with the desire to listen to the opinions of investors of LG Group investing in production and business in Hai Phong, City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau worked with leaders of LG Innotek Group and LG Electronics.
At the meeting, City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau highly appreciated LG Innotek's efforts in implementing the project in Hai Phong. He hopes that LG Innotek will continue to expand business investment activities, considering Hai Phong city as the key point of LG Group in Vietnam for the production of LG's key products for export to the international market. Hai Phong commits to continue accompanying and creating the most favorable conditions for LG Innotek to implement projects in Hai Phong city effectively and for sustainable development. He requested LG Innotek to connect with Hai Phong businesses to participate more deeply in the Group's supply chain and call on the Group's partners and auxiliary suppliers to research new investments and expand investment in Hai Phong city.
Next, the City Party Secretary received and worked with leaders of LG Electronics Group. Emphasizing that LG Electronics is investing effectively in Hai Phong, making many contributions to budget revenue and creating many jobs for local people, he requested that the Group continue to pay more attention to implementing research, investment, building R&D research and development centers, innovation, and technology transfer in the city; Pay attention and support the city to implement many projects to build dormitories and social housing for workers. Along with that, promote cooperation with the city's universities and colleges in human resource training; Support Hai Phong city in teaching Korean at primary and secondary schools; encourage supportEstablished Korean language department at Hai Phong University. Regarding medical cooperation, he proposed that LG Electronics Group cooperate with the city in researching medical technologies, producing vaccines, producing pharmaceuticals and medical equipment; Strengthen training activities to improve the quality of human resources related to health to improve community health, contributing to promoting cooperation between Hai Phong and LG Group in general and LG Innotek and LG Electronics groups in particular.
On this occasion, the City Party Secretary respectfully invited leaders of LG Innotek Group and LG Electronics to visit and work in Hai Phong and attend the 2024 Red Poinciana Festival.

Proposal for the Bank of Korea to support Hai Phong with ODA loans
Next, the City Delegation worked with the Korea Export-Import Bank - KEXIM Bank on supporting loan capital to deploy important traffic infrastructure projects of the city expected to be implemented in the near future.
Korea Export-Import Bank is a bank 100% owned by the Korean Government, directly under the Korean Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF). KEXIM Bank provides two financial tools: export credit and investment; Economic cooperation and development fund with preferential conditions of ODA loans. ODA projects that KEXIM Bank supports to develop in Hai Phong are solid waste treatment plant projects in Hai Phong; solid waste management and treatment project in Hai Phong and project to provide medical equipment for Hai Phong Obstetrics Hospital.
At the meeting, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau emphasized that in the immediate future, the city prioritizes investing in expanding the Tan Vu-Lach District 2 bridge and the roads leading to both ends of the bridge; Invest in the construction of Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3 and the connecting road from Rao 3 bridge to Do Son district; Lach Tray-Ho Dong road... In the future, in addition to the above project, Hai Phong city proposes a number of investment projects with Korean ODA loans. He hopes that KEXIM Bank will support the city in providing part of the loan capital to help Hai Phong continue to synchronously modernize its transportation infrastructure, contributing to attracting investment, including many Korean businesses and corporations.
