Strengthen and promote cooperation between provinces and cities of Vietnam and Yunnan province (China)

The conference evaluated the implementation situation, achieved results as well as raised difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing the contents of the cooperation minutes of the 8th Corridor Cooperation Conference. At the same time, agree on effective and practical cooperation contents, propose specific directions and appropriate solutions to further promote cooperation between provinces and cities; building the economic corridor of Kunming, Lao Cai, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh to become an effective model of cooperation in the Vietnam - China cooperation relationship.

On behalf of the leaders of 5 provinces and cities, Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Khang reported summarizing the outstanding results in implementing the minutes of the 8th Conference held in 2017 in Hai Phong. Accordingly, in the field of transportation, 5 provinces and cities have actively reported and requested the Governments of the two countries to allow research to promote international road transport of passengers and goods: Kunming - Hekou - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh; Complete the connection of Van Don - Ha Long - Hai Phong - Hanoi - Lao Cai - Van Nam expressway; Initially testing direct flights from Van Don to Kunming and the main cityEager to open direct flight route Cat Bi - Truong Thuy.

In the field of trade and investment cooperation, the parties have actively participated in trade promotion activities and exhibitions held in each locality; exchange information, promote destinations together through tourism websites or participate in cultural and tourism events organized by localities. Speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Thanh emphasized that, playing the role of the main gateway to the sea in the economic corridor of 5 provinces, Hai Phong has recently focused on investing in infrastructure projects, in order to synchronize and modernize the transport infrastructure system connecting with localities. The Vice Chairman affirmed that effective cooperation with localities in the economic corridor of 5 provinces and cities has contributed to making Hai Phong a bright spot in Vietnam's economic development. By the end of September 2019, Hai Phong's economic growth rate (GDRP) reached 16.42%, the highest ever, 2.35 times higher than the national average.

Based on the contents discussed at the conference, leaders of 5 provinces and cities agreed to sign the Minutes of the IX Corridor Cooperation Conference with specific contents, including: continuing to strengthen friendly exchanges; promote traffic connection; continue to strengthen and expand cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, education, and health; support the implementation of cooperation in currency and insurance operations; promote cross-border logistics development and cooperation; cooperation in the agricultural sector.
