(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On May 23, the interdisciplinary working group of the Central Vietnam Farmers' Union and the Border Guard Command led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Ethnicity - Religion - National Defense and Security, had a program to inspect and work with the city's Farmers' Association and the city's Border Guard Command on the situation of coordination between the two sides during the period. 2019 - 2024 on "mobilizing farmers in border areas and islands to promote production and socio-economic development associated with the task of protecting the Fatherland's borders in the period 2019-2025".

Accordingly, in recent years, the two units have regularly coordinated closely in leadership, direction, close and practical coordination, orderly and effectively implementing the program to firmly protect the sovereignty and security of sea and island borders of Hai Phong city in the new situation. Hai Phong Farmers' Association at all levels coordinated with Border Guard Stations stationed in the area to actively coordinate, propagate, and mobilize members and farmers to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and local work guidelines, actively participating in the movement to protect the sovereignty and security of the Fatherland's borders.

Every year, the grassroots Farmers' Association in the city must build 20-25 self-management models associated with the BVANTQ movement with the participation of the "Grassroots Farmers' Association", with a focus on models in communes, wards, and towns with coastal areas and islands. During the Lunar New Year, the Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Farmers' Association regularly visits and gives Tet gifts to Border Guard Stations and a number of farmers in difficult circumstances in the area. Supported 600 Ban trees for members and farmers in the area to plant in the mangrove forests of Dai Hop commune (Ken Thuy district), Ngoc Xuyen ward (Do Son district) with the model "Wave-blocking rows of farmers' trees". Direct, mobilize and propagate members and farmers in coastal communes to build the model "Farmers and fishermen participate in"Participate in classifying marine waste at source" associated with protecting security and order and maintaining the "Self-managed ship cluster" club in Ngoc Hai, Van Son, Hai Son communes (Do Son district), Dai Hop, Doan Xa (Ken Thuy district), Vinh Quang (Tien Lang district), Cat Ba Town (Cat Hai district); coordinate with the city Border Guard to propagate the law of the Sea, IUU Regulations...
Based on the Coordination Program, up to now, the City Farmers' Association has coordinated to organize propaganda on sea and island protection and environmental protection associated with production and sustainable marine economic development in 27 sessions for 4,200 members, farmers and fishermen in maritime border areas, distributed 4,500 leaflets with propaganda content on the Law on Fishing and Seafood, Law on Environmental Protection... launched and built 07 annual pilot models on conservation. Marine environmental protection is associated with the Model New Rural Construction Program and the National Protection Movement in coastal areas.

Along with that, every year the city's Border Guard coordinates to propagate and disseminate the law in 618 sessions/4,279 media/140,839,100 listeners, distributing 37,786,000 leaflets; donated 2,856 legal books, 616 life jackets, 766 national flags, 50 personal medicine cabinets to fishermen (propagating and campaigning not to illegally exploit seafood (IUU) for 2,405 vehicles/ 9,537 ship owners and crew members; campaigned 4,777 ship owners to sign a commitment not to send their vehicles to foreign waters to exploit or fish illegally, without violating regulations). The above results have created a strong action movement, promoting the successful completion of each unit's political tasks, making an important contribution to socio-economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of farmer members and the People. Thanks to that, the solidarity and attachment between the two units and the people in the maritime border area have been strengthened, the All-People's Border Guard posture has been strengthened, the All-People's Border Guard is strong, and the sovereignty and security of the city's sea and island borders firmly protected in the new situation. Outstanding movements from coordinated work have created prestige and trust not only for local party committees and authorities but also have had a profound impact in supporting the political system in the area, contributing to political stability and social order and safety in the locality over the past time.
Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Head of the Committee for Ethnicity - Religion - National Defense and Security of the Central Vietnam Farmers' Union acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved by the two units, and proposed that in the coming time the two sides continue to further promote the outstanding coordination results in recent times. Besides, it is necessary to overcome shortcomings and limitations, focusing on working with Party committees and local authorities to guide farmers in maritime border areas and islands to effectively promote economic models and develop new economic models.
