In his opening speech at the Workshop, Minister of Planning and Investment of Vietnam Nguyen Chi Dung assessed that Quang Tri is a province with an important geopolitical position in the Central region and in Vietnam, a land with great development potential and is currently rising strongly. In recent years, Quang Tri has continuously maintained a good growth rate, the economic structure has shifted in the right direction, investment mobilization has increased, and all economic sectors have developed.

Quang Tri is currently constantly making efforts to improve infrastructure, facilitate the business environment, improve the quality of human resources and the quality of life of people in the area to gradually become a good land for investors. Besides, Quang Tri is converging all favorable conditions to become an attractive destination for businesses to invest in production and business associated with raw material areas and available resources. The land has the potential to become a center of production, logistics, services and international trade, circulating goods and services between the vast continental area connected to the global supply chain and trade through the railway system, highways and seaports that are gradually taking shape, contributing to connectivity.between the ASEAN region and Northeast Asia, China and India are countries considered the driving force behind global economic development today. Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized that Quang Tri is a province that is transforming strongly in the Central region with new potential and advantages. The Ministry of Planning and Investment commits to continue to work with ministries and branches to support and coordinate with localities to develop appropriate mechanisms and policies to maximize the potential and strengths to help Quang Tri province develop faster and more sustainably.

Presenting about the development potential and opportunities to attract investment into Quang Tri province, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chinh, Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, said that in the period 2011-2016, the socio-economic situation of the province had a very positive change, the gross product in the province (GRDP) increased by an average of 7.18%/year, GRDP per capita increased. 12.7%/year. The economic sector structure has shifted in the right direction when non-agricultural production value accounts for 77.59%, agriculture only accounts for 22.41% in the province's current economic sector structure. Up to now, the province has licensed 330 domestic and foreign investment projects with a total registered investment capital of about 69,522 billion VND, including 14 active foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total investment capital of nearly 1,026 billion VND, 316 domestic investment projects with a total registered investment capital of nearly 68,496 billion VND. The total products of enterprises in the province account for 47.6% of the province's GRDP and create jobs for about 35,500 workers, positively contributing to the economic growth of Quang Tri province.

With the message "Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone - the destination for international investment on the East-West Economic Corridor and hope that international investors and businesses are interested in researching the list of projects calling for investment in the Province". At the same time, we hope that Singaporean businesses and investors in general as well as investors from countries and territories such as Korea, Japan, Taiwan... will pay attention to researching and implementing investment projects to develop production and business in Quang Tri province in general and the Southeast Economic Zone of Quang Tri province in particular, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the locality and the Central region of Vietnam.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Lim Hng Kiang, Minister of Industry and Trade of Singapore, highly appreciated investment opportunities in Quang Tri province. At the same time, he said that in recent times, many Singaporean investors have been looking for investment opportunities in this locality. Including Sembcorp Group, KinderWorld came to learn and survey the selection of locations to implement the Industrial Park, Urban and Service Complex Project according to the VSIP model, the Pegasus Ecotourism Complex Project in Quang Tri province...

Within the framework of the Conference, the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding on Singapore investment promotion cooperation in Vietnam between the Foreign Investment Agency, the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and the Singapore Manufacturing Industry Association took place./.
