Vietnam and Colombia established diplomatic relations since January 1, 1979, however up to now, economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries are still limited, not commensurate with the actual potential of both countries. Vietnam always has a trade surplus with Colombia

In 2014, the total two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Colombia reached 298.28 million USD, an increase of 57.8% compared to 2013. Of which, export value reached 278.5 million USD, an increase of 60.8% compared to 2013, imports from Colombia reached 19.78 million USD, an increase of 25.15 million USD compared to 2013. Some Main export products increased sharply in 2014 such as: phones and components reaching 77.42 million USD (up 156.3%); Seafood products reached 73.94 million USD (up 27.7%); Textile fibers and yarns of all kinds reached 23.16 million USD (an increase of 39.66%) ... The main imported products in 2014 include: Raw materials for textiles, garments, leather, shoes; pesticides and raw materials; tobacco raw materials; wood, plastic products, cashew nuts, pharmaceuticals, etc.
