(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On June 2, the Hai Phong city delegation led by Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan began a working visit to Singapore to attend the 2024 World Cities Summit (WCS) in Singapore. Accompanying him was Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Trung Hieu.
WSC is a Forum that takes place every two years, officially launched in 2008 and has so far attracted the participation of more than 250 cities globally and is supported by leaders from government, business, international organizations and academia.

WCS 2024 lasts 3 days, including the main Conference and other important events such as: WCS Mayor's Forum, WCS Young Leaders Symposium, Awards Ceremony and Lee Kuan Yew World Awards Banquet, and a number of exhibitions. With different themes, they are: Cities for People, Resilient and Regenerative Cities, Smart Cities, Sustainable Finance for Cities and Future Cities. Each theme includes plenary sessions and in-depth discussions, special meetings and roundtables organized with strategic partners to ensure rich and diverse discussion.

Gathering delegates from 90 cities around the world, at WCS 2024 the parties will exchange experiences on development challenges that cities are facing such as: climate change, industrial revolution 4.0, green economy; the problem of aging population, improving living environment... Attending the Conference, Hai Phong city wishes to learn and exchange about issues related to digital economy and innovation, sustainable development, finance, urban management, infrastructure, experience in start-up activities...
As of May 2024, in the city there are 82 investment projects from Singaporean investors with a total investment capital of 3,216 billion USD, of which Singapore has invested in industrial parks and economic zones reaching more than 3 billion USD with 63 projects. The investment fields of Singaporean investors in the city focus mainly on the industrial sector (nearly 80%), real estate business, infrastructure (nearly 27%), the remaining are the fields of warehousing, logistics, trade, machinery, textiles.../.
