(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of October 29, the Department of Transport organized a final report workshop on the market survey project on JICA's sustainable development goals on applying digital technology to maintenance activities and life cycle management of the bridge system in Vietnam.

The project is sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through IHI Infrastructure Systems Co., Ltd., with a total project capital of 20 million Japanese Yen, equivalent to about 3,205 million VND. The project has the goal of surveying the market on applying digital technology to maintenance activities and life cycle management of bridge systems in Vietnam; exchange experiences in the management and maintenance of bridge projects; Refer and research the application of digital technology in bridge maintenance work in Hai Phong.
Main activities of the Project include: surveying, selecting, and collecting data on a number of bridge projects in the city; Using and testing the BMSS software system in the management and maintenance of bridge projects in the city; testing the BMSS software system, evaluating the operating status of bridge structures tested using BMSS technology, making diagnoses of the causes of bridge damage...

Currently, there are 64 bridges being managed and operated in the city. However, there are still many problems in keeping records of bridges, and there is a lack of personnel serving bridge management and limited expertise. Therefore, the need for digitalization for bridge management and maintenance is extremely necessary and in line with the digital transformation trend. From July 2023, the Department of Transport will coordinate with IHI to test the BMSS system. The BMSS system collects data on 64 bridges in the city with information: year of construction, stability level, bridge type, bridge length, width, periodic inspection results...

Immediately after the project was approved by the City People's Committee, the Department of Transport coordinated with IHI Company to update bridge project records to test the support and management program. The management and maintenance units regularly update the program, localize and access to use the support program, bridge maintenance management... during the implementation process, initially evaluating the feasibility of the program as a premise to deploy the next plans.
After the testing period, the Department of Transport recommended that IHI soon complete and develop BMSS system functions in a way that is easy to use on smartphones; Apply AI in damage analysis, filming, and photography; Update repair methods suitable for the Vietnamese market...
