In general, FDI investment of Asean countries into Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2015 has achieved certain results but is still modest compared to the potential of other countries in the region. Vietnam and Asean have advantages such as being countries in the region, being geographically close to each other, and understanding the customs and cultures of the countries. On November 23, 2015, at the 27th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations officially adopted the Declaration to establish the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the AEC will officially take effect on December 31, 2015. This is considered a historical milestone of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations since its establishment in 1967.
The formation of the ASEAN Economic Community is a great opportunity for investment and trade for member countries and foreign investors. Many challenges as well as opportunities are facing the governments and businesses of member countries. In the coming time, for ASEAN countries, we can believe that more large-scale investment projects will come to Vietnam. This is also consistent with the level of development of the countries and the common prosperity of ASEAN. Businesses will also benefit from the development of the region and they will have the conditions to carry out larger investment projects.
