(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of May 13, the City People's Committee solemnly held a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the construction of Ben Rung Bridge connecting Thuy Nguyen district of Hai Phong city with Quang Yen town of Quang Ninh province across Da Bach river. Ben Rung Bridge has an important meaning in linking the region, expanding new development space, creating landscapes - modern, rich in identity and practical architecture to serve the tourism development of the two localities. Comrade Le Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, attended and issued the order to start the project.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony of Ben Rung Bridge is an important activity in the series of events commemorating the 132nd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2022) and the 67th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2022).

Investment project to build Ben Rung bridge with a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND, with a bridge section longer than 1.87 km; Bridge width is 21.5 meters, with 6 lanes, including 4 motor vehicle lanes and 2 mixed lanes; Navigation height is 11 meters, the path on both sides is longer than 0.4 km.

Speaking at the Groundbreaking Ceremony, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung emphasized his determination to successfully implement Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045, so immediately after issuing the Resolution, the Standing Committee of the Hai Phong City Party Committee discussed and agreed with the Standing Committees of the provinces: Hai Duong, Thai Binh and Quang. Ninh on building bridges across rivers to connect traffic and expand economic space in the Northern Coastal region.
Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said that up to now, Thai Binh province and Hai Phong have built a bridge over the Hoa River, inaugurated at the end of 2019; is building a coastal road, including 9km in Thai Binh province, expected to be completed before Lunar New Year 2023; At the end of this year, Hai Phong city will also start construction of Thousand Bridge 2.
On Hai Duong province's side, Quang Thanh Bridge and Dinh Bridge were built, which were inaugurated in July 2021. Previously, to connect with Hai Phong, Quang Ninh province invested in building Bach Dang bridge, put into use since September 2018; Currently under construction to upgrade National Highway 10, the section bordering Quang Ninh province and will be completed by the end of this year. At the same time, the city is also preparing to continue construction of the Lai Xuan bridge to connect Thuy Nguyen district with Dong Trieu town.

When the Ben Rung bridge project is completed and put into use, it will connect Thuy Nguyen district with Quang Yen town, completing the transportation network of Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province with the northern region.
In order for the Project to be implemented on schedule and effectively, Chairman Nguyen Van Tung suggested that the Investor and construction contractors focus on human and material resources to build the project ahead of schedule, with technical and aesthetic qualities, especially ensuring absolute labor safety. Strive to complete the project by the end of 2023. Chairman of the City People's Committee requested Thuy Nguyen district, along with Quang Yen town, to accelerate site clearance work, striving to complete in July 2022. Departments, branches and branches of the two localities, Thuy Nguyen district and Quang Yen town... create the best conditions and coordinate with the Investor to quickly resolve difficulties and problems during the project implementation process.

Issuing the Project Commencement Order, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh expressed his excitement and affirmed that today's groundbreaking of the Ben Rung Bridge project has a particularly important meaning for two localities, Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province, concretizing Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo on the construction and development of Hai Phong to 2030, vision to 2045 and the Working Program between The Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of Quang Ninh Province on: "Agree to cooperate in accelerating the speed of development and completing the synchronous, modern, interconnected and comprehensive transport infrastructure system, promoting regional and intra-regional connectivity".
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Party's 13th Congress Resolution has identified 3 strategic breakthroughs, of which transport infrastructure development is one of the 3 breakthroughs that has been focused on leadership and direction and has achieved many important results in recent times. The Deputy Prime Minister stated clearly that Hai Phong and Quang Ninh are two localities that are both strongly developed in infrastructure. The commencement of construction of Ben Rung bridge, when completed and put into operation, will contribute to creating development momentum, creating space for urban land funds, industrial clusters... while creating jobs for people and ensuring social security.
