(Haiphong.gov.vn) - With the consent of the People's Committee of Hai Phong city and the French Embassy in Vietnam, on the morning of April 26, at the Exhibition House No. 93 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi, the Hai Phong Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the French - Vietnamese Academy of Architecture organized the opening of the Hai Phong - French Heritage Exhibition with the theme "Architectural heritage today, prosperity for tomorrow".

Attending the opening program were Ms. Sophie Maysonnave, Counselor for Cultural Cooperation and Activities, French Embassy in Vietnam; Associations, organizations, and experts at home and abroad. On the side of Hai Phong city, there were comrades: Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi Hoang Mai, and representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches and units.

Delegates visit the Exhibition
On November 15, 2023, Hai Phong city coordinated with the French-Vietnamese Academy of Architecture to successfully organize a photo exhibition with the theme "Architectural heritage today, prosperity for tomorrow". The event attracted a large number of people to visit, learn and leave many good impressions. Following the success of the event and at the same time to promote the image of the city and people of Hai Phong to a large number of people nationwide and international friends; promote the friendly relationship and cooperation between France and Vietnam in general and Hai Phong city in particular. Today, the Exhibition continues to be held in Hanoi city. This is an important event on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, and the 10th anniversary of establishing a strategic partnership.
Founded in 1888, Hai Phong city has developed for more than a century with many ups and downs of history, with many works bearing the early tectonic imprint of French architecture. From a coastal land, Hai Phong city has developed into a port city with a long history and become one of three class 1 urban areas in Vietnam. One of the very important highlights that create the face of the city is the Central Urban Area, where many typical architectural works converge, very valuable in terms of architecture, culture and art, representing the blend of rich and diverse cultures.
>Speaking at the opening of the Exhibition, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam said: After more than 100 years, the architectural works in the central urban area of Hai Phong city still remain almost intact, preserved and promoting their use value, proving their lasting vitality over time. With more than 300 villas, of which more than 100 have unique architecture and cultural and historical value, contributing to the integrity of an urban heritage. All of the above projects are valuable assets, constituting the living environment of Port people, contributing to the unique and unmistakable appearance of Hai Phong city. That is also one of the potentials, strengths, basis and resources for Hai Phsocio-economic development, especially cultural tourism development.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that preserving and preserving cultural and historical works is not only about protecting past values, but also about cultivating those values, becoming more civilized and valuable both materially and spiritually. Accessing French culture through French architectural works will contribute to raising awareness of preserving, conserving and promoting architectural heritage. On that basis, find a common voice, and at the same time recommend and propose effective long-term and sustainable opportunities and solutions to preserve and promote the value of these heritages, making them shine, and at the same time, the next generation's appreciation for the values of history.

The exhibition takes place from April 26 - 30, 2024, displaying 65 photo sets with 570 images with content: city planning maps through periods (1874, 1885, 1926,...); expansion and development of the city and City planning to 2040, vision to 2050; public space (main street, square,...); New political and administrative center of the city; Architectural works of typical value in Hai Phong city are classified into groups: educational works, religious works, villas...; some illustrations of conservation work in some cities in France and Hanoi; some illustrations of the exhibition opening ceremony in Hai Phong; Some pictures of the World Natural Heritage Cat Ba archipelago.
