On the sidelines of the 2017 APEC Summit Week, Economic Ministers of 11 member countries of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) met in Da Nang on November 8, 9 and 10, 2017 to discuss the early implementation of the TPP Agreement in the current situation. new.
Based on the results of exchanges between countries since the Ministerial meeting of TPP countries in Hanoi in May 2017, the Ministers agreed to the new name of the 11-member TPP Agreement, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and at the same time issued a Joint Statement affirming that TPP countries have agreed on the core issues of this Agreement in the direction of preserving the content of the TPP Agreement but allowing the Member countries temporarily postpone a small number of obligations to ensure balance in the new context.
The Ministers also agreed that the CPTPP Agreement is a comprehensive agreement with high standards on the basis of balancing the interests of members, taking into account the development level of the countries.
Based on this Declaration, the Ministers assigned the Negotiating Team Leaders to continue handling a number of technical issues that have not yet reached consensus as well as conduct legal review to prepare for the signing.
The results achieved in Da Nang have demonstrated the great efforts of the 11 TPP countries to promote economic growth, create jobs, improve people's lives, facilitate trade development and strengthen economic cooperation among countries in the region.
Vietnam, as the host country helping Japan co-chair the Ministerial-level meeting, has made practical and constructive contributions to the overall success of the Conference.
