(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of April 2, comrade Le Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council chaired the 3rd City Party Committee Conference to summarize the implementation of tasks in the first quarter of 2021; directions and key tasks in the coming time. In the first quarter of 2021, besides the opportunities and advantages after the great success of the 16th City Party Congress and the 13th Party Congress, the city also encountered difficulties and challenges, especially the negative impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic situation. In that context, with the timely leadership and direction of the Central Government, the City Party Committee has been proactive and highly focused on implementing the Resolution of the 16th Congress and Resolution No. 01-NQ/TU, dated December 1, 2020 of the City Party Committee on goals, tasks, and solutions in 2021 with strong, drastic, practical policies and solutions and has achieved outstanding results.

The main economic indicators all achieved high growth over the same period. Gross regional product (GRDP) increased by 13.22%, 2.95 times the national average. The index of industrial production (IIP) increased by 18.29%. Export turnover reached 5.72 billion USD, an increase of 25.15%, equal to 25.65% of the year's plan. The output of goods through the port reached 33.93 million tons, an increase of 16.66%, equal to 21.34% of the year's plan. State budget revenue reached 22,924.44 billion VND, an increase of 15.2% and equal to 25.6% of the estimate assigned by the City People's Council. Attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) reached 920.7million USD, 4.25 times higher than the same period, equal to 36.83% of the year's plan...
Key projects and works on transport infrastructure, urban infrastructure, and socio-economic infrastructure have achieved many important results, continuing to create clear changes in the city's urban appearance. The outstanding results in the pilot building of new model rural communes have proven that this is the correct policy of the Party Committee and city government, with high consensus from the People, creating an important premise for continued implementation in all remaining communes in the coming time.
The fields of culture and sports continue to have many imprints, contributing to improving the quality of life of the city's people. Policies for people with meritorious services and social security policies are paid attention to and implemented with a high level of support compared to the previous year. Education and training continue to maintain and improve quality, especially key quality. Healthcare continues to receive investment attention. The city has proactively implemented measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic, preventing the disease from spreading and breaking out in the community. The political and social situation is stable, national defense and security are maintained, order and safety are guaranteed, contributing to creating motivation for the city's development.

Comrade City Party Secretary Le Van Thanh emphasized: In the first quarter of 2021, the results of socio-economic development were very high, with many targets that have never been achieved before.
