The city's economic growth reached the highest level in the country, a number of major economic indicators continued to grow over the same period. Gross regional product (GRDP) at 2010 constant prices is estimated at 89,111.7 billion VND, up 10.87% over the same period, the highest growth rate in the country. The index of industrial production (IIP) increased by 14.08%, the lowest growth rate in the last 4 years, but Hai Phong is still in the group of provincesh, the city with the highest growth rate in the country. Export turnover is estimated at 8,459.9 million USD, up 16.45%, equal to 44.71% of the year's plan. The output of goods through the port reached 58.46 million tons, an increase of 2.74%, equal to 38.13% of the year's plan. Speaking at the Conference on the situation of implementing tasks in the first 6 months of the year, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council Le Van Thanh assessed that although the goals and targets set for 2020 of the city are very high, while being greatly affected by the epidemic, the city has completed its tasks well, achieving the "dual" goal of both fighting the epidemic and developing the economy. Next, the Conference listened to reports and gave opinions on the Project to adjust the general planning of Hai Phong city to 2035, with a vision to 2050. The opinions were unanimous in evaluating the preparations of departments, branches, branches and consulting units as very serious, thoughtful, closely following the spirit of Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo, with appropriate directions. The 26th City Party Committee Conference also agreed and approved adjustments and supplements to the 5-year medium-term public investment plan for 2016 - 2020 from the bonus source exceeding the 2019 revenue estimate (about more than 1,900 billion VND) divided between the central budget - local budget and re-investment according to a specific mechanism.
Emphasizing the importance of adjusting the General Plan for the city's socio-economic development, City Party Secretary Le Van Thanh acknowledged that the project was prepared quite well and thoroughly, associated with Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
