The speeches of the two negotiating leaders and the policy debate between experts sent the audience an overall picture of market opening commitments and the great economic benefits of EVFTA for the two economies of Vietnam and the EU. For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to the EU Vuong Thua Phong affirmed the importance of the EU to Vietnam, the balanced benefits of EVFTA for the two economies and the determination of the Vietnamese Government to reform for opening-up and integration.
EU Ambassador to Vietnam Bruno Angelet, former Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Piet Steel and Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Belgium Joseph Michel de Grand Ry inspired the audience by sharing experiences and deep impressions about Vietnam's outstanding development since doi moi and the hidden strength of the Vietnamese people who are capable of cooperating with Europe for mutual prosperity.
In closing remarks at the conference, Ms. Pascale Delcomminette, General Director of the Walloni Regional Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, highly appreciated the interest of business owners in the EVFTA and encouraged Belgian businesses along with other European businesses to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, recommending EU officials to promote the official signing and ratification of the EVFTA for the common benefit.
