(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of July 30, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Thanh received and worked with the Yokkaichi City Delegation (Japan) to learn about the investment and business environment and business cooperation capabilities of small and medium enterprises of Yokkaichi City in Hai Phong. Also attending the work were leaders of relevant departments, branches and units of the city.
In August 2016, Hai Phong city and Yokkaichi city signed a "Memorandum of Understanding on economic exchanges between the two localities" to promote economic cooperation. Up to now, the two localities have implemented a number of delegation exchange activities; and Yokkaichi also organized a workshop on investment environment in Hai Phong for businesses in Yokkaichi.
Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Thanh emphasized that Hai Phong city is considered one of the dynamic and developed economic centers of Vietnam. In the first 6 months of 2019, Hai Phong had an economic growth rate of 16.3% over the same period, this is the highest increase ever, this also reflects the strong development of the city's economy. The Vice Chairman also added that Hai Phong has been benefiting from many ODA projects, Jica Japan's projects related to the fields of transportation, water supply and drainage, waste treatment... these projects are all very useful, making an important contribution to the city's socio-economic development. Currently, the city has 142 FDI projects from Japan.
At the working session, the Yokkaichi City Delegation heard general information about Hai Phong from city authorities, and introduced some of the city's support mechanisms and policies for investors...
The two sides also discussed further the city's socio-economic development situation, policies to develop industry, services, and infrastructure; operations of domestic and foreign enterprises, business trends, difficulties in the production and business process of enterprises; Procedures and regulations related to the operations of foreign enterprises in Vietnam...
