Proposed investment of nearly 6,130 billion VND to build Nguyen Trai bridge across Cam River - Hai Phong

The Nguyen Trai bridge construction project will be funded by the City People's Committee. Hai Phong is the investor using Japanese ODA loans.

 

The construction of Nguyen Trai Bridge plays an important role in helping Hai Phong implement its urban development strategy, building a new administrative center to the north of Cam River.

City People's Committee. Hai Phong has just submitted a document requesting the Ministry of Planning and Investment to select the proposed investment project to build Nguyen Trai Bridge - City. Hai Phong can use ODA capital from the Japanese Government in fiscal year 2016 and submit it to the Prime Minister for approval.

According to the City People's Committee. Hai Phong, Nguyen Trai bridge is more than 1,300 m long with the starting point connecting to the main North-South road of VSIP Hai Phong urban, industrial and service area (Thuy Nguyen district - Hai Phong); The end point connects to Nguyen Trai street at intersection 5 of Cat Bi airport and Le Thanh Tong street (May To ward, Ngo Quyen district).

The total project investment is expected to be 6,129 billion VND (equivalent to 30,066 billion Yen), of which Japanese ODA loan allocation is 5,474.4 billion VND; Counterpart capital from the local budget is 654.6 billion VND.

Hai Phong said that the project is of great interest to the Japanese Government, especially the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has sponsored feasibility studies, proposed procedures and supported access to Japanese ODA loans.

The construction of Nguyen Trai Bridge not only solves the pressing traffic needs between Hai Phong city center and the new urban area North of Cam River, connecting industrial parks but also connects areas with goods flow to and from Hai Phong international gateway port to Hanoi. Previously, the Japanese Consulting Agency proposed 3 architectural options for Nguyen Trai bridge as follows: Option 1, Nguyen Trai bridge has a cable-stayed structure; Option 2, Nguyen Trai bridge has a steel arch structure; Option 3, Nguyen Trai bridge is a suspended structure. The Japanese consulting agency proposed the architectural plan of the Nguyen Trai bridge in the form of a steel arch (option 2) as the most feasible.
