Regarding the progress of phase 2 of the Airport Construction Project, which is to renovate a part of the old runway into a parallel taxiway and plant grass, the Bridge Project Management Board is carrying out bidding procedures to select a construction contractor. The construction scope of the package is 38,000m2, which includes the following works: excavating and demolishing the old runway structure, drilling cement soil piles, constructing layers of sand foundation structure, gravel aggregate, cement-reinforced crushed stone aggregate, M150 concrete and M350 reinforced concrete, the estimated construction time is 09 months.

The representative of Cat Bi International Airport's leadership said that although the International Airport operates under the condition that construction contractors continue to complete the remaining items, the work of ensuring security, safety, flight service, and passenger service are all guaranteed to be absolutely safe. Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam emphasized that with the Cat Bi International Airport put into operation, Hai Phong has been completing and gradually modernizing 5 types of modern, continuous traffic; This is also a condition for Hai Phong city to affirm its role as a regional airport. The Vice Chairman acknowledged and evaluated the efforts of the Management Board, contractors and related units in their efforts to complete the remaining work of phase 1, and at the same time requested relevant sectors and localities to focus on drastic direction, overcome shortcomings, and request the construction contractor to return the road near the airport area; Complete reporting procedures and proposals for sectors to complete final settlement of phase 1 of the project; soon complete the procedures to submit to the City People's Committeeto accelerate the implementation of phase 2 of the project, striving to complete before the Lunar New Year.
