In his opening speech at the Conference, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong emphasized: The decentralization and decentralization in the field of import and export according to the Decrees and Circulars of the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade is an important step, contributing to innovating state management methods, shortening time, reducing costs for businesses, creating a favorable and transparent business environment, improving competitiveness and promoting socio-economic development.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong said that Hai Phong is currently one of the major import-export centers of the country, acting as a trading hub of the Northern Coastal region. In 2024, the city's export turnover will reach 36.3 billion USD, up 19.5% over the previous year and exceeding 10% of the plan; The first 8 months of 2025, reaching 31.8 billion USD, up 6.25% over the same period. On the import side, in the first 8 months of this year, import turnover reached 25.84 billion USD, up 15.98% over the same period. In the coming time, the city will continue to coordinate closely with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to implement key tasks such as: promoting administrative procedure reform, applying information technology in issuing Certificates of Origin (C/O); Strengthen propaganda, training, and guidance dbusinesses take advantage of opportunities from free trade agreements (EVFTA, CPTPP, RCEP, UKVFTA); Accompany and remove difficulties to create a favorable and transparent business environment.
