On the afternoon of March 8, at the headquarters of the City People's Committee, comrade Le Khac Nam, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee of the same era Representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, Education and OfficeThe City People's Committee received Mr. Giles Lever, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Vietnam, to visit and work in Hai Phong city.
Through this visit, the Ambassador wishes to learn about the city's development situation and future economic plans, especially the areas the city prioritizes to promote. In addition, the Ambassador is very interested in the fields of education, training, vocational training, business investment environment, and long-term vision projects of the city. He hopes to become a bridge between Hai Phong and UK businesses and schools. At the meeting, the Ambassador said that this year the UK has about 30 scholarships for Vietnamese students, covering free food, accommodation, and travel costs for a year for students studying for a master's degree in the UK. The program expands to people in many localities across the country. At the same time, Mr. cHo knows that the UK currently has a number of vocational training programs with a framework for skills certification for Vietnamese students.
Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam introduced some key features of Hai Phong city's socio-economic development. He said there have been many foreign partners from Japan, Korea, Singapore, the UK... coming to invest in Hai Phong, especially some overseas Vietnamese from the UK who have built overseas Vietnamese villages in the city. Besides, Hai Phong is one of the health, culture and education centers of the country, especially the city has had students win international awards for 21 consecutive years. Schools from elementary school, to middle school, high school, university... all teach foreign language English, and some schools teach foreign language Japanese and Korean. Besides, Hai Phong is the leading locality in this field.During development investment, the city always rolls out the red carpet to welcome investors from abroad, including the UK, on the basis of respecting the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. In the coming time, the city is determined to focus on developing service industries, especially logistics and tourism services. For industry, the city prioritizes intensive industrial development, using high technology, is environmentally friendly, bringing great economic value.
The Vice President expressed his sincere thanks for the Ambassador's help. He hopes to cooperate more with UK businesses and organizations in the near future.
