(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of May 25, Comrade Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee received Mr. Nicolas Warnery, French Ambassador to Vietnam, and the Delegation on a working visit to Hai Phong city. Also attending were Mr. Le Trung Kien, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board and leaders of relevant departments and branches.

At the reception, on behalf of the city's leaders, comrade Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of the City People's Committee, welcomed Ambassador Nicolas Warnery and the delegation to visit and work in Hai Phong city; At the same time, he emphasized the good relationship between Vietnam and France in general and Hai Phong city and some French localities in particular in recent times; Especially the French city of Brest, which is a sister city to Hai Phong city, has had a lot of support for Hai Phong city in the field of marine economy.

Chairman of the City People's Committee informed some features of the city's location, potential advantages, and outstanding socio-economic results in recent times and said that there are currently a number of French businesses interested in investing in Hai Phong, but the scale is still modest. Hai Phong is also continuing to invest in marine tourism infrastructure as well as investing in new industrial parks. Therefore, the Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that Ambassador Nicolas Warnery will pay attention to calling on French businesses to invest in Hai Phong in fields such as seaports, wind power, logistics services, healthcare, education... to strengthen the cooperative and development relationship between the two sides.

Ambassador Nicolas Warnery emphasized that France and Vietnam in general, French localities and Hai Phong city have had many cooperative relationships in recent times and wished to develop an even stronger partnership between Hai Phong city and French businesses. In particular, through visiting and working with a number of units, the Ambassador realized that the relationship between Hai Phong and Brest is always maintained and closely linked, contributing very positively to the relationship between the two sides. The Ambassador said that in addition to being interested in seaports, renewable energy, and economic development, French businesses also want to cooperate in the fields of health and education and will organize working delegations to explore investment opportunities in Hai Phong.
Ambassador Nicolas Warnery affirmed that after Vietnam opened its economy after the Covid-19 pandemic, this is a favorable time to promote bilateral cooperation. Hai Phong has an important position and convenient transportation, so the Ambassador hopes that his visit and work in Hai Phong city will be an opportunity to promote bilateral cooperation in all fields.
