The UK's Lloyd's List magazine has just published its 2026 ranking of the world's top 100 container ports by cargo throughput.
Lloyd's List is the world's oldest specialized maritime and shipping news and analysis publication, with a history spanning over 300 years.
The ranking is primarily based on cargo volume and the growth rate of cargo handled through the ports.
Notably, in 2026, Hai Phong seaport climbed 3 positions compared to 2025, reaching the 26th spot globally.

This result demonstrates the attractiveness of Hai Phong seaport, especially after the four deep-water berths at Lach Huyen officially commenced operations in the first half of 2025. With six deep-water berths operating synchronously, the port's operational capacity has been enhanced, enabling it to accommodate and handle cargo for the world's largest container vessels.
Hai Phong seaport is currently considered one of Asia's fastest-growing container gateway ports.
Alongside Hai Phong seaport, Ho Chi Minh City seaport maintained its 22nd position, while Cai Mep port ranked 31st in the 2026 ranking of the world's top 100 container ports by cargo throughput.
Previously, according to Alphaliner, a global maritime data analysis platform, three Vietnamese seaports were among the world's top 30 busiest container ports in the first half of 2026. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City seaport ranked 19th, Hai Phong seaport 25th, and Cai Mep 29th.
