(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of June 18, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development together with the Ministry of Information and Communications organized an online conference on Digital Transformation in the field of agriculture and rural development with 63 provinces and cities. In the digital transformation plan of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the goal is to develop a digital economy in agriculture to promote businesses and people participating in agricultural activities to increase the application of digital technology in the production process and provision of agricultural services. Managing and monitoring origins; Forming a digital agricultural ecosystem to encourage people and businesses to participate in digital transformation, etc.; Applying digital technology in production processes and providing agricultural services.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also set a target of 80% of agricultural databases being built and updated on a big data platform (Big data) with contributions from organizations, individuals and communities. This will basically complete the database on crops, livestock, and fisheries; Build an agricultural digital map ready to connect, share and provide open data to perform online public services to serve people and businesses, operate e-Government, move towards digital Government, develop digital economy and digital society.

Evaluating the current information situation in agricultural production, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that information uncertainty has been affecting the supply-demand relationship, producers are unclear about the market, while the market is unclear about production, which will lead to the need to support consumption.

Speaking at the Conference, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said that currently technology businesses are ready to complete e-commerce platforms for farmers. Along with that, domestic businesses also have enough infrastructure and ability to bring agricultural products to every household in the country. E-commerce platforms can solve difficulties for farmers, connect farmers with suppliers, and input goods for farmers ensure quality, origin, are not counterfeited, and are competitively priced.

According to Plan No. 207/KH-UBND dated September 21, 2020 on digital transformation of Hai Phong city to 2025, orientation to 2030, which identifies digital transformation in the agricultural sector as one of the necessary and important contents. Develop agriculture towards high technology, focusing on smart agriculture, adapting to climate change, increasing the proportion of digital agriculture in the economy.

In the context of international integration and the development trend of the "4th Industrial Revolution", Hai Phong has had many great opportunities to cooperate and absorb the world's achievements to build and develop smart agriculture, besides, creating conditions for the city's products to reach the international market.
