Ensuring progress in implementing the Hai Phong Rainwater Drainage, Wastewater and Solid Waste Management Project, phase 1

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of June 26, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Binh chaired a meeting with relevant departments, branches, localities and agencies to review the progress of the Hai Phong rainwater drainage, wastewater and solid waste management project (phase 1).

Hai Phong rainwater drainage, wastewater and solid waste management project (phase 1) has a total investment of more than 5,788 billion VND sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project includes 4 components, including: Rainwater and wastewater drainage component; Solid waste component; The Resettlement Area Component serves the rainwater and wastewater drainage component and the Gia Minh Resettlement Area Component serves land clearance and solid waste management component.

Up to now, the rainwater and wastewater drainage component has reached a volume value of 94.24%, including the construction of 5 wastewater sewer lines and 4 wastewater pumping stations: Kieu Son, Lach Tray, An Da, Cho Hang; construction and renovation of Vinh Niem and Trai Chuoi lakes; Ba Tong, Trai Le, and Thuong Ly box sewer lines; and construction of Vinh Niem Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Solid Waste component's implementation value reached 92%, including 02 construction and installation packages and 01 equipment supply package, in which the package of providing vehicles and equipment for garbage collection, transportation and sanitation has delivered 100% of the equipment, currently the parties are finalizing the package. For the Resettlement Area for the Rainwater and Wastewater Drainage Component and the Gia Minh Phuc Resettlement AreaLand clearance service The solid waste management component has now basically completed the handover work, and relevant parties are finalizing the completed project.

In terms of capital, to date the Project has been granted more than 5,136 billion VND, of which ODA capital is more than 4,152 billion VND and counterpart capital is 982 billion VND.

Through listening to the reports of the Project Management Board and Departments, branches and localities at the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Binh emphasized that this is a project within the framework of implementing the Agreement between the Governments of Vietnam and Japan. Therefore, it is required that agencies and units continue to review and carry out tasks within their responsibilities, remove difficulties and obstacles, seriously implement international commitments, ensure progress, and promote the value of the project. Regarding contract payment, the Vice Chairman assigned the Department of Finance to coordinate with the City People's Committee Office to focus on reviewing and evaluating procedures for signing contract appendices; Assign the Project Management Board to preside over and work with relevant sectors to review and resolve issues and problemsAccording to JICA's request, it is necessary to note the time for implementing the Agreement.
