Speaking at the opening session of the 25th WEF - ASEAN Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung highlighted Vietnam's outstanding achievements and focuses on sustainable and inclusive growth.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, on the path to building the ASEAN community there are many opportunities but also many challenges. It is an environment of peace and regional security that still has potential elements of instability; development gaps increase; Climate change and natural disasters have an increasing impact on the development of the region.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, building the ASEAN Community is a continuous and long-term process. From recent ASEAN cooperation practices, to achieve the goal of sustainable and inclusive growth, the Deputy Prime Minister shared 3 major contents towards this goal.
The first is to promote reform, improve national governance capacity, develop infrastructure and science and technology, which are necessary factors to build a dynamic economy with competitiveness and effective international integration.
Second, to move towards sustainable and inclusive growth, ASEAN countries need to prepare well in terms of institutions, infrastructure, and human resources.
The third focus towards sustainable and inclusive growth mentioned by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung is to narrow the development gap, because it is impossible to achieve inclusive growth if there is still a development gap in each country as well as between ASEAN member countries. Therefore, sustainable poverty eradication and effective implementation of social security must continue to be a top priority in each country's development policy and ASEAN agenda for many years to come.
Cooperate in the spirit of ASEAN solidarity
According to Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, Mekong cooperation is an important component of the ASEAN and regional economic integration process. In recent years, transport infrastructure connections, trade and investment links have developed strongly in the Mekong region. The formation of sub-regional economic corridors such as the East-West Economic Corridor, Southern Economic Corridor... has promoted economic connections between Mekong countries and between the Mekong region and other ASEAN countries as well as major economies in the region.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that Vietnam is actively coordinating with the WEF to organize the WEF Conference on the Mekong region on October 25-26 in Hanoi. The conference will contribute to strengthening the partnership between the Governments of Mekong countries and the international business community to sustainably develop this potential region.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, cooperation in the spirit of ASEAN solidarity and shared responsibility for common problems is an indispensable factor for peace, stability and sustainable development of the region.
"Vietnam always makes efforts with ASEAN countries and partners in the spirit and for this goal. The good future of Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region is only guaranteed in a peaceful and stable environment in which countries comply with international law," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
Vietnamese businesses need to actively integrate more
Immediately after attending and speaking at the Plenary Opening Session of the WEF - ASEAN Conference, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and leaders of a number of ministries and branches met with Vietnamese businesses attending the Forum.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung hoped businesses would continue to improve management capacity and apply high technology to innovate products and improve competitive quality. The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that businesses need to actively integrate more and that attending activities of the World Economic Forum and other leading businesses is a good opportunity to affirm and promote the bravery of Vietnamese businesses.
Vietnam currently has a number of large corporations and corporations that are members of the WEF, including: Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, FPT Group, VinGroup, VinaCapital, Posts and Telecommunications Group, Vietnam Import-Export and Construction Corporation, Vietnam Airlines Corporation, Steel Corporation, Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam, Bao Viet Group, Construction Joint Stock Corporation No. 1, Saigon Investment Group and Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development./.
