A delegation of 20 Vietnamese businesses will carry out trade promotion programs in two major markets of the European Union (EU), Italy and the Netherlands during the period from July 11 to 19, 2015.
The trip to survey the market, promote investment and business was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with the European Trade and Investment Policy Support Project (EU - MUTRAP).
The investment and trade promotion program in the two countries is considered a bridge in the relationship between Vietnam and Italy and the Netherlands, especially an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to introduce products, conduct market research, promote their image, promote the export of goods, and meet directly for trade with Italian and Dutch businesses.
In addition, businesses also have the opportunity to seek investment sources in Italy and the Netherlands to develop and boost production for their businesses.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Italy and the Netherlands have great demand for manufacturing, agricultural and aquatic products, and food industries; consumer goods (textiles, footwear, wooden furniture, plastic products...); pharmaceuticals; high technology... Therefore, the trade promotion delegation will especially prioritize businesses from the above industries to participate.
The European Union is a large and potential market with 28 member countries and is one of Vietnam's important investment and trade partners.
In June 2012, Vietnam and the EU began negotiating the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement, aiming to open the market, strengthen trade cooperation, and investment for sustainable development.
As of May 2015, total EU investment capital in Vietnam reached 19.7 billion USD with 1,622 projects in 18/21 industries. In particular, the Netherlands is currently the largest investor in the EU, having invested in 28 provinces and cities of Vietnam with 235 projects and a total registered investment capital of 6.65 billion USD. Italy is the 9th country among EU countries investing in Vietnam with strengths in industrial production.
It is known that the trip to survey the market, promote investment and trade of the Vietnamese business delegation took place right before the Vietnam - EU FTA was about to be signed.
