On the morning of May 20, Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association in Hai Phong city and the Korean Business Association in Hai Phong (KOCHAM Hai Phong) to organize a discussion "Opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese and Korean businesses in Hai Phong city".
Participating in the discussion were Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan - Chairman of the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of the city; Representatives of leaders of Korean and Hai Phong Departments, branches, units, associations, businesses...


Speaking at the discussion, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan said: Korea is currently the second largest investor in terms of number of projects with 186 projects and ranks first in total registered investment capital in Hai Phong, reaching 14.2 billion USD. Korean investor projects operate effectively, focusing heavily on high-tech products, contributing to improving the technology and science content of businesses in the area, promoting increased export turnover, creating jobs and making important contributions to the city budget. Hai Phong highly appreciates the business community in general, especially Korean businesses, for actively accompanying the city's development over the past time. The City pledges to always accompany and create favorable conditions for businessesFDI enterprises are assured of long-term, effective and sustainable investment locally.
In the coming time, Hai Phong will continue to focus on improving the business investment environment, supporting businesses in accessing land, credit, human resources and training high-quality labor resources. At the same time, the city will promote support for domestic businesses, especially small businesses, to build cooperation capacity with FDI businesses, access advanced technology and cooperate effectively with Korean businesses.

Representative of Korean businesses, Chairman of the Korean Business Association in Hai Phong (KOCHAM) Seog Myeong Gug said: The seminar has practical meaning, creating opportunities for Vietnamese and Korean businesses in Hai Phong to understand and cooperate more deeply, especially in the field of providing auxiliary products and human resources. This cooperation helps FDI enterprises reduce production costs, improve competitiveness and contribute to strengthening competitiveness in the international market.

At the seminar, Vice Chairman of KOCHAM Hai Phong Lee Kyung Hee specifically shared a number of solutions to improve the business investment environment in Hai Phong, which emphasized the role of human resource quality. Accordingly, the city needs to improve the quality of education and vocational training according to international standards, focusing on key industries such as industrial engineering, automation, electronics, and artificial intelligence (AI) at universities in the area. At the same time, promote teaching Korean and other foreign languages, focusing on training soft skills such as communication, teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving. He also proposed building training cooperation programs between Vietnamese and Korean vocational education institutions, developingn training links, student and lecturer exchanges. In addition, Hai Phong needs to encourage Korean businesses to participate in developing training programs and provide internship opportunities for students.
Director of Thang Long International Solution Joint Stock Company, Mr. Nguyen Huu Phu, said that small and medium-sized enterprises still have difficulty accessing large enterprises, especially FDI enterprises. Therefore, this discussion program is considered an important first step, helping Vietnamese and Korean businesses increase understanding and seek cooperation opportunities in the future./.
