On the morning of May 16, the Steering Committee for National Target Programs and Sustainable Development of the city held a meeting to discuss and vote on a proposal to consider and recognize Hai Phong city for completing the task of building new rural areas. Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho - Deputy Head of the Steering Committee chaired the meeting. Attending the meeting were leaders of relevant departments, branches, units and localities.

Recently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has coordinated with functional departments and branches to review and report on the results of implementing the criteria and targets for New Rural Construction assigned by the city. Evaluation results show that the city basically completed 8 prescribed indicators.

Specifically, up to now, 100% of districts in the city have met New Rural standards; 20% of districts meet advanced New Rural standards; 100% of communes completed the task of building new rural areas. The citywide New Rural Development Project has also been approved by the City People's Council. In addition, more than 70% of the length of district roads, provincial roads and national highways in the area have been planted with trees; Public green land area reaches a minimum of 4m²/person. The satisfaction index of people and organizations with the services of state administrative agencies reached 91%, ranking first nationwide. Notably, the city's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee conducted a survey to get people's opinions on the results of New Rural construction. The rate of people's satisfaction reached from 99.5% to 99.6%, showing consensus andHigh appreciation from the community for the efforts of authorities at all levels in implementing the New Rural Construction program.

After listening to the discussions and conclusions of the meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho highly appreciated the consensus and support of the people and the persistent efforts of the city authorities at all levels and the districts in the movement to build New Rural Areas through two phases, from 2010 to present. The Vice President emphasized that Hai Phong's achievement of the criteria and targets for building new rural areas is the result of a process of drastic direction, synchronous implementation and the active participation of the entire society. To complete the recognition request process, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment, relevant functional branches and localities to urgently coordinate and soon complete the dossier to submit to central agencies for appraisal and reporting.Report to the Government to consider and recognize the city's completion of the task of building a New Rural Area. In the process of completing documents, units need to ensure consistency and accuracy of data according to the latest date and status. At the same time, the information in the dossier must be built logically, have long-term stability, and be consistent with the development orientation and arrangement and consolidation of administrative units in the coming time./.
