(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of September 24, at the City People's Committee Headquarters, Comrade Dao Trong Duc, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, chaired a courtesy reception for the High-level Delegation of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia led by His Excellency Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Civil Service, and President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, during their visit and work in Hai Phong.

Also attending the reception were Ms. Touch Sorpharath, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Mr. Le Hai Long, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation; representatives of leaders from relevant departments, agencies, and the Hai Phong City Youth Union.
Speaking at the reception, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Dao Trong Duc welcomed His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many and the delegation members to visit and work in the city. He emphasized that Vietnam and Cambodia have a long-standing traditional friendship, which has been nurtured, preserved, and developed by generations of leaders and people of both countries. In recent times, the relationship between the two countries has continued to develop positively in many fields, with increasing attention paid to people-to-people exchanges.

The visit of His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and the delegation takes place as the two countries are looking forward to the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia (June 24, 1967 - June 24, 2027). This is an important milestone to reflect on the journey of close ties, and to continue fostering friendship and mutual understanding between the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation. He expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen the bond between the two nations, opening up many opportunities for practical exchanges and cooperation between Hai Phong and Cambodian partners.

At the reception, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Dao Trong Duc shared with the delegation an overview of Hai Phong's socio-economic development, its position, and strategic orientation. From July 1, 2025, the new Hai Phong City will be established based on the merger of Hai Phong City and Hai Duong Province, opening up a vast development space with an area of nearly 3,200 km² and a population of over 4.6 million people (ranking 4th nationwide). With an economic scale exceeding 29 billion USD (ranking 3rd nationwide), Hai Phong is the only locality to maintain double-digit growth for 11 consecutive years. In the first 8 months of 2026, the city's socio-economic performance continued to achieve many outstanding results.

He also shared about the positive cooperation results between Hai Phong and Cambodia in recent times. Hai Phong is the only locality in the North that converges all five types of transportation (road, rail, inland waterway, maritime, and air), playing a crucial role as an international trade gateway. The city is focusing on developing synchronous and modern transportation infrastructure, with Lach Huyen International Gateway Port as the core and developing the Nam Do Son terminal area into an international transshipment port. In addition to 3 Economic Zones and 48 Industrial Parks, Hai Phong is actively implementing a Free Trade Zone with superior specific mechanisms and policies according to Resolution No. 226 of the National Assembly, striving to become a major seaport city in the region and the world by 2050 based on three pillars: modern seaport - logistics services, green - smart - high-tech industry, and an international marine tourism center.
Emphasizing the role of youth work, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee introduced to His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and the delegation the outstanding achievements of Hai Phong's youth in recent times. The Hai Phong City Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has strongly promoted its pioneering spirit, implementing many practical activities associated with digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and volunteering; improving foreign language proficiency and international integration, attracting tens of thousands of students. On that basis, he hoped that His Excellency Hun Many would continue to pay attention, support, and direct the strengthening of connections and exchanges between Cambodian youth and Hai Phong youth. Especially, towards the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, the youth of both sides need to further promote experience exchange and cultural exchange activities.

Speaking at the reception, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many respectfully thanked the leaders and people of Hai Phong City for their thoughtful reception. He highly appreciated the city's impressive socio-economic development achievements and superior strategic orientation; at the same time, he affirmed that in his assigned positions, he would make every effort to further promote multifaceted cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam in general, as well as between Cambodian localities and agencies and Hai Phong City in particular. He pledged to continue promoting youth exchange programs, expanding cooperation in public service, human resource development, and economic-trade connectivity, making practical contributions to the development of both countries.
At the reception, the two sides exchanged some contents related to promoting cooperation between Hai Phong and relevant Cambodian localities and agencies in the coming time; shared policies on attracting talent, developing high-quality human resources, and young human resources; shared lessons learned from operating a two-tier local government after the merger; and experiences in digital transformation in state management as well as attracting foreign investment for sustainable development./.
