The Middle East - Africa region is known as a potential market with relatively high import demand and does not require strict quality standards. In 2016, Africa's import turnover reached about 480 billion USD. It is forecast that by 2020, Africa will import about 1,200 billion USD of all kinds of goods. For the Middle East region, in 2016, import turnover reached about 807 billion USD and by 2020 is expected to reach 1,500 billion USD. This is also an area with an important strategic geographical position, adjacent to all three continents of Asia, Europe and Africa, and is a transshipment area for goods to surrounding areas, especially Dubai, which has now become the third largest goods transshipment market in the world.
Given the fact that Vietnam's traditional markets are gradually approaching saturation, promoting exports to new potential markets is the right direction for Vietnamese businesses.
In order to strengthen propaganda, promotion, and dissemination of market information, trade policies, business practices, trade opportunities, and import demand for goods of countries in the Middle East and Africa, to help businesses access markets and develop strategies to promote exports to the region, the Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to organize a "Seminar to introduce the Middle East and Africa markets: Trade opportunities and promote the export of goods".
