On October 16, 2019, according to a report from the Vietnam Trade Office in Myanmar, it was reported that Myanmar's Ngwe Galon Min Company (Ngwe Galon Min Ctd - 446/447, Kondedan Street, Thein Gyi Zay (A) Yone, Pabedan Tsp, Yangon) was put on the watch list by Myanmar customs and advised against pepper shipments imported by the above mentioned enterprise. Exporting but not completing procedures to receive goods will not be given the opportunity to re-export to Vietnam, and will be auctioned and confiscated (if customs clearance procedures are not completed within 60 days from port arrival). According to the assessment and evaluation of the Vietnam Trade Office in Myanmar, the reason Ngwe Galon Min Company did not receive the goods was mainly because the price of pepper was lower at the time of delivery compared to the original estimate. Some Vietnamese export enterprises have had to go through re-export procedures to Vietnam to avoid further damage. According to Myanmar law, if imported goods arrive at a port without customs clearance within 60 days, the shipment will be auctioned and confiscated. The Department of Industry and Trade requests the People's Committees of districts and units to advise businesses within their responsibility to understand the situation and be careful when transacting pepper exports to the Myanmar market, and at the same time proactively inform the Department of Industry and Trade when problems arise to coordinate and ensure the legal rights of Hai Phong businesses.
