(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of February 18, at Tan Vu Port Branch (Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company), Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) coordinated with the Gulf of Tonkin Port Group - Guangxi (China) and Zhonggu Shipping Line to launch a new container transport service connecting the Gulf of Tonkin - Hai Phong - Kolkata (India).
Attending the Opening Ceremony were comrades: Tran Cuong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Ha Wei, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam; Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee. Together with leaders of Zhonggu Shipping Group, Vietnam Maritime Corporation and leaders of relevant departments, branches and units.

Delegates performed the opening ceremony of the service route Gulf of Tonkin Port - Hai Phong Port - Kolkata Port.
This is the first public container ship route deployed between Gulf of Tonkin Port and Hai Phong Port, opening the door for strategic connection from the Guangxi region (China) with the Northern region (Vietnam) to Eastern India and the Bangladesh region.
This service route will transport goods with a schedule of one trip every 03 weeks, not only optimizing logistics costs but also shortening transportation time, improving the competitiveness of businesses in Vietnam, China and India.
>The opening event marks a new milestone in strengthening economic, trade and logistics cooperation between Guangxi province (China) and Hai Phong city.
VIMC Deputy General Director Le Quang Trung emphasized that the opening of this service line is an important milestone for the maritime industry, not only expanding trade connections between Vietnam, China and India but also contributing to promoting the shift of supply chains in the region, creating conditions for sustainable development of the logistics industry.
Mr. Luu Thang Huu, General Director of Beibu Gulf Port Group - Guangxi said, this is a strategic step in promoting economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and China.
With the number of containers passing through the Gulf of Tonkin Port expected to exceed 10 million TEUs in 2025, the Gulf of Tonkin Port Group believes in the potential of the new service line. This promises to attract goods from India to two major ports, Hai Phong Port and Gulf of Tonkin Port, for transshipment, creating a new trade and transport channel for the region.
The Gulf of Tonkin - Hai Phong - Kolkata service route is a clear demonstration of the cooperative efforts between VIMC and international partners in developing strategic transport routes. This is not only a trade bridge between regions but also a driving force to promote sustainable economic growth, increase import-export turnover and optimize supply chains between potential markets such as Vietnam, China and India. With a long-term vision, this maritime route will become an important trade axis, contributing to promoting the position of Hai Phong and Vietnam's maritime industry on the regional and global logistics map./.
