On the morning of December 18, at Hai Phong Station, Vietnam Railways Corporation held the opening ceremony of a specialized freight train on the international intermodal route Hai Phong - Lao Cai - Son Yeu - Khai Vien, with a transport distance of 610km from Hai Phong station (Vietnam) to Khai Vien station (China).

The opening and operation of this specialized freight train is part of the transportation plan between the railways of Vietnam and China. With the advantages of fast delivery speed, short carriage turnaround time, about 29 hours (not including time to declare and complete customs procedures as prescribed by law)..., this specialized train will help transport goods between the two countries quickly, conveniently and safely, and at a more economical cost than by road.
The train consists of 16 cars with a total weight of 825 tons. Accordingly, Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company and Kunming Railway Group Company Limited (China) agreed to arrange 450 high-walled carriages on both sides to organize specialized freight trains with a frequency of 2 pairs of trains/day and is expected to increase from 3 to 4 pairs in the next time. ship/day.
