(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of November 27, the Opening Ceremony of Innovation Start-up Festival (TECHFEST) 2024 took place. The event was organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology (S&T) in collaboration with Hai Phong City People's Committee from November 26-28 with the spirit of "Joining hands to develop a creative startup ecosystem".
The event had the participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of Ministries, branches, localities, socio-political organizations, international organizations, Embassies, Institutes, Schools, Creative Startup Communities (KNST), investors, organizations supporting KNST, Enterprises and Business Associations.

In 2024, Techfest 2024 has the theme "Joining hands to develop Vietnam's creative startup ecosystem", jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the People's Committee of Hai Phong City; Deployed by the Department of Science and Technology Enterprise and Market Development (Natec), Hai Phong Department of Science and Technology.

In his opening speech at the event, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat said that looking back over the past decade, Vietnam's creative startup ecosystem has developed strongly, promoting the emergence of pioneering businesses applying new technology, new business models, ready to compete in the global market. In 2024, Vietnam's Global Startup Ecosystem Index has increased two places, from 58th to 56th position (ranked 5th in Southeast Asia and 12th in the Asia-Pacific region). Our country's global innovation index has continuously improved over the years; 2024 will increase 4 places compared to 2022, ranking 44/133 countries and economies.
Thanks to a strongly developed creative startup ecosystem, Vietnam is one of the dynamic emerging economies and a development center for creative startups in the Asia-Pacific region. Also according to the Minister, the Government's policies to promote the creative startup ecosystem through Project 844 support the national creative startup ecosystem; Project 1665 supports students to start businesses; Project 939 to support women in starting businesses... has met the increasing needs of businesses, helping them overcome challenges in a volatile international context.

Minister Huynh Thanh Dat said that these support policies need to continue to be promoted and expanded, to ensure that Vietnam's creative startup ecosystem always maintains its development momentum, enhances competitiveness and continues to be a solid foundation for the sustainable growth of the Vietnamese economy. Along with that, it is necessary to continue to maintain development momentum and constantly innovate. The Ministry of Science and Technology will work with ministries, branches and localities to advise the Government and the Prime Minister to continue improving the legal framework and designing appropriate support mechanisms to create favorable conditions for innovative startups to operate effectively in the global business environment.
"Choosing Hai Phong as the venue for Techfest Vietnam in 2024 affirms the political determination to build and promote creative startup ecosystems in localities with potential, thereby creating a driving force for development for the entire region and the country. Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that our Party and State always pay special attention to science, technology and innovation, considering it one of the leading national policies for rapid and sustainable development. In particular, creative startups are one of the new growth drivers, creating new production forces for development in the new era.
In the spirit of "Innovation to fly high; creativity to reach far; integration to move forward", the Prime Minister stated 6 key tasks and solutions to develop Vietnam's creative startup ecosystem including: focusing on perfecting institutions for innovation and entrepreneurship; clearly identify priority areas, in which it is necessary to focus on creating new production forces, strategic areas such as green economy, digital economy, circular economy, pioneering technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor chips, cloud computing, internet of things; clearly define the direction for creative startups; ensure financial resources and facilities; develop high-quality human resources and innovative startup movements; Promote international integration of creative startups.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the Government will create all favorable conditions to support and promote the development of the creative startup ecosystem. In particular, focus on directing the review and improvement of strategies, mechanisms, policies, and solutions to strongly promote innovation and creative startups with the spirit of creating favorable conditions and protecting the legal and legitimate rights and interests of the business community, investors and people.
With a constructive role, the Government builds open institutions, smooth infrastructure, and smart governance; Establish a centralized management model to ensure favorable conditions for innovative startups; create markets for innovative startups; stable, long-term policy; Develop support policies such as housing, visas, and preferential capital for creative startups.
Within the framework of Techfest Vietnam 2024, the Exhibition of innovative startup products and services also noted the difference in product quality of startup projects from three regions of the country with a total of more than 250 booths of technology startups. The exhibition also attracted the participation of more than 40 booths from international friends, many of which are from Korea, affirming the close cooperation in technology transfer between Vietnam and Vietnam. Participating in the exhibition, Hai Phong has 100 booths from creative startups, science and technology enterprises, enterprises with high-tech products and universities in the city.
