(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the afternoon of April 10, the Vietnam Development Bridge Forum (Vietnam Connect Forum) 2024 (4th time) jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam Economic Magazine – VnEconomy – Vietnam Economic Times and Hai Phong City People's Committee, took place in Hai Phong city. Attending the Forum were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; leaders of ministries, branches and diplomatic agencies; leaders of 25 provinces and cities in the Northern region, along with foreign business associations, domestic industry business associations and nearly 300 FDI enterprises in Vietnam.

Participating in the Forum on the part of Hai Phong city leaders were comrades Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee; Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee; Le Anh Quan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; Le Trung Kien, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the City Economic Zone Management Board.

The theme of Vietnam Connect 2024 Forum is "Vietnam moving towards a green, sustainable economy: From the Government's strategies and policies to local and business initiatives and solutions" which is evaluated not only as the topic of a conference but also as the commitment and determination of both the Government, localities and the business community.

Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee Le Tien Chau affirmed: Hai Phong is committed to continuing to synchronously and drastically implement solutions, immersing itself in the general development rhythm of the country, becoming a 'green city'.
Speaking to welcome the Forum, Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee Le Tien Chau said: Hai Phong is one of the pioneering localities in the country, implementing the National Strategy on Green Growth; For more than 10 years, the city has always been in the leading group in the country in terms of socio-economic development results. Hai Phong commits to continue to synchronously and drastically implement solutions, blending into the country's overall development rhythm, becoming a 'green city' based on a 'green, sustainable economy'. At the same time, effectively deploying the city's green growth projects in the coming time to improve the city's competitiveness with the vision of becoming a model of a dynamic, green, clean, livable city inregion and is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors."

At the Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha asked ministries, branches, agencies and localities to share visions, goals and solutions to promote green and sustainable economic development of the country and localities. The Government calls on investors and businesses to invest in a number of fields promoting green transformation such as renewable energy, research and technology transfer, development of new materials, chips, semiconductors, digital economic development, digital government, digital government, green transformation in transportation, smart urban development, and environmental protection. At the same time, the Government always expects localities and businesses to be dynamic and positive subjects, seeking breakthrough initiatives and solutions for the country through new ways of thinking and doing.

The plenary session of the Forum focused on discussing and updating new international trends in green economy, low carbon economy, net zero economy, and through practical green transformation activities of localities, economic sectors and business community in Vietnam, reflecting Vietnam's green economic development process.

Permanent Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Anh Quan participated in the Forum with the speech "Hai Phong is Proactive and Pioneering in Green Transformation". Hai Phong is focusing on a strategy to accelerate green transformation with major directions mentioned in the city's socio-economic development resolutions. The plan to accelerate the city's green transformation includes: green industrial and economic zones; green in Seaport - Logistics; Green in Industry - General Services. To promote the implementation of green growth strategy, Hai Phong will focus on perfecting the planning and investment policy framework; Complete the green growth financial policy framework, build a national budget allocation and management policy framework to serveImplement the Green Growth Strategy. Research and promulgate green technical norms, standards and guidelines; Raise awareness of green growth for leaders at all levels in State management agencies, industries, localities and the business sector.

Next, the Forum's discussion session with the participation of 3 main groups of subjects, including: representatives of state management agencies at ministerial and sector levels; Local leaders, associations and businesses. The discussion session guests exchanged, responded and discussed main groups of issues related to the green transition process, specifically: Vietnam's current mechanisms and policies on green transition, circularity, low carbon emissions, moving towards net zero and sustainable development; Assess the ability to mobilize and access green financial resources, climate finance, and net zero; Assess the capacity and internal resources of localities and businesses (FDI and Vietnamese businesses) in implementing green transformation; Propose and recommend facilitation policiesEven more beneficial, the speed of policy movement is faster to accelerate the green transition process in Vietnam, making an important contribution to achieving Vietnam's sustainable growth and development goals.

Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony.
Within the framework of the Forum, the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding took place between the Department of Climate Change and units under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment, Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change, Center for Communications on Natural Resources and Environment) with Vietnam Economic Review to coordinate in implementing activities to raise awareness, capacity and action towards Vietnam's Net-Zero goal.

Continuing the program is the Announcement and Honoring Ceremony of Outstanding FDI Enterprises in 2023 receiving the 23rd Golden Dragon Awards. The Organizing Committee announced and honored the Top 50 Outstanding FDI Enterprises in 6 industry groups, including Processing and Manufacturing Industry; Digital technology & digital services; Financial and insurance services; Infrastructure, industrial park and real estate development; Education and health care; Agriculture, food and beverages. The top 10 excellent brands honored with the Golden Dragon Awards are: Samsung, LG Display, Intel, Qualcomm, Heineken, HSBC, Lego, SCG, UOB, Coca-Cola./.
