(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the basis of the Eastern Expressway Axis Economic Connection Agreement (VEHEC) signed by the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) with the People's Committees of 4 provinces and cities: Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen; to connect with the global smart manufacturing supply chain; On the afternoon of December 12, Business Forum Magazine coordinated with the Legal Department (VCCI) and Quang Ninh Economic Zone Management Board to organize the Eastern Expressway Industrial Park Forum for the second consecutive year with the theme "Linking and promoting smart manufacturing supply chains".

Attending the Forum were: Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry Pham Tan Cong; Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province Pham Duc An; Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong; Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Yen province Nguyen Le Huy; Vice Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan and experts and representatives of Industrial Zones (IZs), Economic Zones (EZs) of provinces and cities.
With the theme: "Linking to promote the development of smart manufacturing supply chains", experts will discuss solutions to promote smart manufacturing supply chains in sub-regional industrial parks, thereby opening opportunities for industrial parks on the Eastern Expressway axis to effectively connect with the global smart manufacturing supply chain.

President of the Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry Pham Tan Cong, gave the opening speech of the Forum.
Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry Pham Tan Cong expected that, through the Forum, he would promote the completion and development of the smart manufacturing supply chain in Vietnam in general as well as VEHEC in particular, thereby affirming Vietnam's position in the international arena to become a smart manufacturing center in the future. At the same time, we believe that businesses coming to this Forum will find suitable partners to jointly create a local production network as well as promote regional, multi-regional and, ultimately, global smart manufacturing supply chains.

At this Forum, VCCI announced "Economic report of the Eastern expressway axis sub-region". The Eastern Expressway Subregion Economic Report provides a comprehensive analysis of the economic situation, business environment, infrastructure, and sustainable development efforts of the VEHEC region; In recent years, the strategic importance of the four provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong and Hung Yen has been enhanced, as the region aims to become an industrial, logistics and green development center, in line with national priorities of sustainable and comprehensive growth.

Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong delivered a speech at the Forum.
Speaking at the Forum, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong said: although the world situation is volatile and the domestic economy faces many difficulties, the society of Hai Phong city continues to be stable and develop. The growth rate of the city's Gross Domestic Product (GRDP) increases by 11.01% compared to 2023. The index of industrial production (IIP) increases by 15% compared to 2023, reaching the yearly plan. Total budget revenue in the area in 2024 is estimated to reach over 116,300 billion VND, exceeding nearly 19% of the estimate assigned by the Central Government, exceeding 9% of the estimate assigned by the City People's Council. Creating jobs for over 62 thousand workers, an increase of 8.2% compared to 2023, equal to 107% of the year's plan (plan of 57.9 thousand people). Calculated from January 2021Up to now, attracting foreign investment in Hai Phong has seen outstanding growth, attracting an average of 3.6 billion US dollars/year, always in the top of attracting foreign investment in the country.
In order for the Eastern Highway Axis Economic Linkage Area to be ahead of the capital flow of multinational corporations in the coming time, Hai Phong city proposes and recommends to the Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry and the provinces: Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen: Focus on strong investment in synchronous, modern infrastructure development and promote regional connectivity in developing multi-modal transport systems, increasing quality logistics services. Proactively research and propose mechanisms and policies for the region to promote the potential and strengths of each locality in attracting investment with the orientation of developing green, sustainable industry and reducing greenhouse emissions. Cooperate and promote the advantages of each locality in trainingTrain high-quality human resources to meet the region's production and business development needs. Promote the formation of research, development, innovation and creativity centers in the economic linkage area of the Eastern Expressway axis, improve capital absorption capacity and ability to participate in global smart production and supply chains./.
