Beginning in May 2022, now after more than 24 months of construction, Ben Rung bridge has been completed, ensuring progress and officially opened to traffic. This is a key traffic project, a cooperation between the two localities of Quang Ninh - Hai Phong in the goal of inter-regional connection, contributing to improving traffic service capacity, promoting the solidarity and close relationship between the people of the two localities, and gradually completing the traffic network in the Northern Key Economic Region.
Ben Rung Bridge has a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND from the central budget, Hai Phong city budget and Quang Ninh province budget (GMB costs and investment in the road connection project from the beginning of Ben Rung bridge to the intersection on Road 338, Quang Yen town) with the Hai Phong Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board as the Investor.
This is a group B traffic project, a special-grade road bridge with a permanent structure, more than 1.86 km long, main bridge and approach bridge 21.5 m wide. The main bridge consists of 4 Extradosed spans with a plan of (90+2×160+90)m. The bridge section includes 34 superT beam spans. Abutments and bridge piers are made of reinforced concrete, foundations use bored piles. Design load HL93; Clearance size BxH=2x(85×11)m. The road leading to both ends of the bridge is 410 m long, the roadbed cross-section is 22.5 m wide, including 4 motor vehicle lanes, 2 mixed lanes, safety strips, median strips, unreinforced sidewalks, lighting systems, waterway and road signs.

Speaking at the traffic opening ceremony, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung emphasized: In recent years, Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province have always developed strongly economically, ranked among the top in the country. The average total GRDP for 10 consecutive years has reached over 10%/year; Next year's budget revenue is higher than the previous year, an average increase of 12-34% compared to the previous year. Over the past years, Quang Ninh province has mobilized many resources from economic sectors to develop transport infrastructure, proactively and flexibly applied investment in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), completed investment in building 176km of expressway, connecting with Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway to Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province according to planning.
Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said that in recent years, Hai Phong city has been actively investing in bridges across large rivers to connect traffic with localities, specifically: building Hoa River bridge, Nghin 2 bridge and building coastal roads to connect with Thai Binh province; Build Quang Thanh Bridge and Dinh Bridge to connect with Hai Duong province; Construction of Lai Xuan bridge and Ben Rung bridge to connect with Quang Ninh province, total value of bridges and connecting roads is nearly 10 trillion VND.
At the present time, Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province are investing in building two large bridges to connect the two localities, which is Lai Xuan bridge to connect Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city with Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province. The Ben Rung bridge project and the technical traffic road today are connecting Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city with Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province to replace the Rung ferry on the National Highway axis. 10 old.

Ben Rung Bridge is also the third bridge connecting Quang Ninh province with Hai Phong city, after Da Bac bridge and Bach Dang bridge. The completed bridge will help people in Quang Yen town and Thuy Nguyen district travel quickly, without having to wait for the Rung ferry for 30-60 minutes, or having to go 40 km to National Highway 18 and then back to National Highway 10 like before.
