To promote the entrepreneurial spirit of Hai Phong students, additional 'push' in terms of resources, experience and supportive environment is needed.

In recent years, startup playgrounds among Hai Phong students have become increasingly organized and professional, creating an environment for ideas to be incubated and developed.
The Youth Union, Student Association of Vietnam Maritime University has just organized a student competition with startup ideas VMU Start-up 2026 attracting 17 teams, selecting 6 teams to enter the finals.
The ideas focus on the fields of economics, engineering, logistics, information technology, and artificial intelligence, showing the dynamism and sensitivity of students to the trend of digital transformation and innovation.
The idea of "Zen Nest" - herbal pillow combined with charging heating technology of a group of students of the Faculty of Economics, Vietnam Maritime University is a product that combines ergonomics, heat therapy and natural aromatherapy, aiming to improve sleep and health. Not stopping at the idea, the sample product development team received positive reviews from the professional council.
Nguyen Thuy Trang, representative of the author group, expressed her desire to have more opportunities to access capital as well as companionship from experts to perfect the product, bring it to the domestic market and proceed to export.

At Hai Phong University, many student start-up ideas and projects are evaluated as having great potential such as: automatic bicycle rental model in schools, Joblink application, waste detection solution in factories, digital tourism models, eco-tourism combined with herbs or clean agriculture projects, smart 3D printer applications...
The common point of students' startup ideas and projects is to apply technology to solve practical problems, linked to market needs; At the same time, it has the ability to adapt well to local socio-economic conditions.
According to Dr. Do Minh Thuy, Director of the Center for Research and Creative Entrepreneurship, Hai Phong University, the entrepreneurial spirit of students is changing in a more and more practical direction.
Students no longer see entrepreneurship as simply establishing a business or developing a business model, but see it as a process of learning and practicing self-control, responsibility and the ability to create value for society.
Regarding practical thinking, in the past, many ideas were of a movement nature, but now, students are more interested in feasibility and implementation efficiency. The prominent trend is the application of digital technology, exploiting local specific advantages to transform ideas into real business opportunities.

Although there are many advantages, students' entrepreneurial path needs more support. Students still lack practical experience, so it is easy to confuse a creative idea with a truly viable business model. Besides, resources such as capital, professional personnel and relationship network are limited. Many students are also afraid of risks and lack perseverance when encountering initial obstacles.
Faced with these difficulties, universities and start-up support organizations in Hai Phong are implementing many solutions to support students.
Hai Phong University introduces entrepreneurship content into the formal training program for students (except for the pedagogical block), through the module "Innovative thinking and entrepreneurship" right from the first or second year.
According to Dr. Do Minh Thuy, entrepreneurship is not only about establishing a business but also about the ability to master yourself and adapt to a changing environment.
Therefore, in addition to knowledge about business models, market analysis, marketing, finance... the teaching team especially focuses on developing essential skills such as presentations, capital raising, teamwork and problem solving. The motto throughout is "learning goes hand in hand with practice", helping students implement practical projects instead of just stopping at theory.
The school's Center for Research and Innovative Entrepreneurship gradually builds a comprehensive support ecosystem, accompanying students from the stage of idea formation to actual implementation.
Specifically, the center organizes seminars, discussions, training and mentoring programs on entrepreneurial thinking, business planning, digital media marketing and finance; Connect a team of consulting experts directly to projects.
Co-working space development center, creating a living and incubation environment for the school's startup club.
Joining efforts to promote the entrepreneurial spirit among students, Vietnam Maritime University regularly coordinates with the Department of Science and Technology, Investment and Startup Club to organize competitions, startup festivals, and investment connection events for students to practice, complete projects and seek development opportunities.
Nguyen Thi Thu Mai, a member of the Startup Club, Vietnam Maritime University, expressed that activities such as workshops and seminars help her learn more useful skills and knowledge. This is an ideal environment for students to have the opportunity to express their ideas to advisors and investors.
Dr. Do Minh Thuy gave advice to start from practical market problems, instead of pursuing ideas that are far from needs; Boldly act on a small scale, experiment quickly and be willing to adjust flexibly; Persevere and never stop learning.
