Implementing the 2024 Work Plan, on April 19, 2024, at Nikko Hai Phong Hotel, the Department of Finance organized an investment promotion conference and investment - business connection between Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises in Hai Phong. This is one of the activities to promote comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, especially in economics and trade, between the two sides. Attending the Conference were about 100 delegates representing more than 70 Chinese and Vietnamese businesses. Among them, Chinese businesses come from large localities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou..., operating in the fields of fashion production, trade, services, technology, education and health.

In the opening speech of the conference, representative of the Department of Finance's leadership, Ms. Tran Thi Hai Yen, Deputy Director of the Department, provided businesses with some basic information about the socio-economic development situation and city planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2030. Accordingly, the city aims to selectively attract three main economic pillars: high-tech industry, seaport - logistics and tourism - trade. commercial. In recent years, Hai Phong has always been among the top localities in the country in terms of attracting foreign investment capital and realized capital has reached a high rate of nearly 80% of registered capital. Total foreign investment capital attraction across the city in 2023 reaches 3.62 billion USD, 1.74 times higher than the same period in 2022, exceeding 81.16% compared to the previous year.attraction plan for 2023, is the second locality nationwide in attracting investment. Accordingly, to date, in the city there are 954 valid foreign investment projects with a total registered investment capital of 30.1 billion USD from investors from 39 countries and territories.
Currently, in Hai Phong there are 394 investment projects of Chinese investors (including mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan) with a total registered investment capital of 6.1 billion USD. Chinese investment projects are mainly in the fields of: manufacturing and processing industry, investment and business in industrial park infrastructure and real estate, trade in services, and purchase and sale of goods. Chinese businesses in Hai Phong have made certain contributions to the city's economy and society, contributing to creating jobs and providing skills training for a large number of workers in the city.
