On December 30, 2024, the Ministry of Science and Technology presided over the development and publication of the 2024 Local Innovation Index (PII).
This is the second year that the Local Innovation Index (abbreviated as PII - Provincial Innovation Index) has been built nationwide, scoring 63 provinces. PII is the only toolkit to comprehensively and fully assess the current state of the local socio-economic development model based on science, technology and innovation, which the Government assigns the Ministry of Science and Technology to preside over and develop annually (starting from 2023).
In 2024, Hai Phong city's local innovation index reached 52.39 points, ranked h/sotc-media/2026/08/07/019fdbeb64eb71a7845a0f833f86b09e.jpg ranked 3/63 nationwide. Provinces and cities in the TOP 10 include: Hanoi ranked 1st with 60.76 points. Ho Chi Minh City ranked 2nd with 55.81 points. Next is Hai Phong city (rank 3), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (rank 4), Da Nang (rank 5), Quang Ninh (rank 6), Can Tho (rank 7), Binh Duong (rank 8), Thai Nguyen (rank 9), Bac Giang (rank 10)./.
